Solomoto is the same price with Twisted Throttle. Shipping to Canada is a killer.
I found a Canadian supplier, A Vicious Cycle, little more money but less and faster shipping, but after the dollar conversion it worked out to the same with the others.

    Thank you.

I ordered the GIVI luggage rack for my 5th gen from them and their customer service was great. Since I did not know which base plate to get for the case I had, I phoned the order desk at avisciouscycle and they were very helpful. My order was delivered within two days via Canada Post. Shipping was far quicker than expected. When I opened the package I realized that there was no base plate for the case included. When I phoned the order desk I asked if the base plate was included and they said "No the base plate was extra" but the guy remembered talking with me and apologized for not asking me which base plate I wanted. They said they would send me the base plate at no charge and they paid the shipping. Now that is what I call customer service. Base plate arrived two days later.

Even if they cost a bit more than some other places, I would definitely purchase from them again.

It sounds like the project is coming together nicely despite the whole shipping cost issue. I'm finding that I can get items shipped to the border and then drive over to pick them up myself. It saves me a crap load of cash sometimes but I have to factor in the hour drive and bridge toll. I would love to know why, with free trade and all that SH&T, why we up north get hit so hard when items come in from the lower 48.

I'm still waiting for my new fairings :(...
They seem to have been lost in Houston for about a week but then reappeared on the tracking radar and are now approaching their final destination. I can't wait even if it is -9C outside.

I got one side drilled and one slider on-I made a mistake and drilled a hole tha was off, but the second one came out great-the kit has a decal-I will use that to cover the tiny bad hole!:rapture: Its going to look really cool with that black slider-I am sure it will get used!:mask:

I know, waiting on the bridge can get annoying but is still worth the hassle.
No ideea why the prices are almost double up here. Sometimes I order stuff to my sister in Illinois and have her send it to me.
    It in frustrating.

I know, I cant wait to get my bike fixed too. Even if the season is almost over now I still want to get it fixed as soon as possible. Why Houston? where did you get them from? I got mine in a couple of days from CMS.
I also ordered the European decals....those are sweet! No cheap, but they look really cool!

I will have to be careful too when I drill for the slider. Also wondering how it will look.
knock on wood, better not to have a use for it. show some pictures when done. I will do the same. Waiting for the European decals. Those should look good.

I think its a very good slider-looks strong and isn't really that hard to install, I am flushing out the coolant to-because you use a custom over flow bottle-bolts right up perfect. Its a bit tricky to cut the hole-I used black paint to mark it-but somehow the mark was off-second try came out perfect, this is a small price to pay to protect your foot in a fall not to mention the plastic,- I am also adding folding levers that won't break in a tip over. I cut down my seat 1 inch too and are adding side tank pads, I am going to lower the bike 2 inches-to get my feet more flat. I didn't know when I bought the vfr on how much it was really like my old r6 Yamaha. The vfr is a really heavy duty sport bike that needs custom work to make it rider friendly for most people. I am 5'8"-,I think the vfr would fit well for 5'11" riders with big hands. That big gas tank should never be filled full unless going on a long ride to burn the gas off-makes it very top heavy. I also think carbon slip-ons are a must have-to Lose:pirate: some of that top heavy weight!@ I bet that slider would work good at low speed.

good point! I am 5'-10 1/2" and still cant keep my both feet flat on the ground unless I squeeze my crouch against the tank :)
A full tank will raise the weight centre off the ground, I think, and the whole ride can change.
    Thanks for your input.

I have two more adj parts coming that should help a bit-side tank pads and these china folding adj levers- getting the levers close to your hands should speed up shifting and less strain on the hands, they also fold over in a tip over and are length adj-its worth a try. I got my eye on alu leo Vincent slip-ons too because they are priced good and are light and sound good, but I am going to finish these mods first before doing anything else.
My stock handle bars are raised a inch, I can raise them another 1/4 inch too. I have a brand new set of M5 metzlers-paid for both $160. I like modding bikes to make them work better-all most as much fun as riding. I all ready upgraded the oilfilter and using fresh oil Castrol 4t 05-40-winter oil.:scubalong:

yes sir, the "project" is almost complete. I am still waiting for two more items and thats it! This is the list of work that i've done, actually not me my buddy, he is very handy.

    1. replaced the right and front cowl, painted OEM
    2. replaced scraped brake pedal and right pillion
    3. replaced crankcase cover and gasket
    4. replaced handlebar weight, all the above from from Motorcycle Goodies

All the above were due to the "incident". Now, while at it and the whole bike got naked I did some more work.
    5. Change oil and oil filter. Used Motul and K&N High Performance
    6. Installed HID kit from WireMyBike.com. The ones with head lights delay
    7. Partially gutted the OEM exhausts - how to on this site
    8. Changed seat with Sargent World Sport Performance Seat from SportTour.com (the best price ever -$346)
    9. Fender eliminator - info on this site
    10. LED Integrated Turn Signals Mirrors - THIS ONES
    11. CNC Adjustable levers - Ebay, the Pazzo lookalike
12 Euro decals from CMS Honda parts
    13. R&G Frame Sliders from A Vicious Cycle - very good store!

    let me see....anything else?
when the weather get better I will take it out the garage and take some shotsfro you guys.

by the way...I have the old cowls, they are scratched but not beyond repair, see pictures in the previous treads. A good painter or handy man can fix them. Not me :)
If someone needs them, can have them for free, let me know.
I will also put another post in Parts forum.

I would not fix it up perfect because you will just drop it again-get r+G sliders before you ride it again and maybe some china folding levers too-I dropped my bike too but saved the damage by using my foot as the slider-donot try this-LOL lucky I didn't break my foot!:alien:

Ya those R+G sliders can save your foot if it gets trapped in a fall-hit slider first instead of your foot plus it will save that expensive plastic from major damage! I have installed R+G sliders-was a real pain in ass because the surface isn't flat but they also really hold on the fairing extra good than those cheap allan bolts. :target::target::director:

Just another old question, I'm guessing.

07 Anniversary Edition. . .were the rear Grab Rails an option?
I'm purchasing a used one should the current owner have the grab rails?

    TIA

    Bob

When I bought my '03, there were no handles, but there were blockout plates to cover up the holes. I guess some guys take them off because they think it looks better that way. Often the rear foot pegs are removed for the same reason. Such parts could be lost. If you like the bike it shouldn't be a deal breaker.

The bike came with them but whether the current owner has them or not can only be answered by him or her. If they are missing you can find used ones now and then on e-bay but the command a few bucks for some reason.

My wife doesn't like riding without them as the help her out when braking hard so she doesn't end up squashed on my backside so I leave them installed all the time.
