Wow that is a lot of info, thank you. How do you like the Sargent seat? I was looking at the site and there seats looks really nice and comfortable. I notice with the stock seat that i ride up close and really hug the gas tank. What differences have you noticed between the stock seat and the Sargent?

I did a quick look for the stator/RR information, WOW there is a lot out there, thanks for the heads up i'll keep my eyes on it.

That is the best quote every! haha oh i've got to use that.

I had no idea that changing the bulbs even to just LEDs would have such an impact on the Stator, the more posts i read the more it sounds like the stator is a major weak spot on these models. Is there a preventative way to upgrade the stator to a more rugged design, is that something that even exists?

Yeah the weather here is starting to get a bit dodgy, the snow is definitely starting to creep down from the north.

As far as my comfort, the Sargent works well, especially for long rides, again not so much for the wife. Since I've been using the Sargent for a while now, I can't remember what the stock bike feels like. I can throw it on and go for a ride and let you know what the differences are. May not be until next week, busy this weekend, unfortunately not on the bike.

When I purchased my 07 it had HID's already installed by the previous owner. Was flashed a couple of times by cagers because of their brightness and was unable to flash back due to the warm up time required by the high beams so I changed the high beams back to Sylvania Ultra Stars. Almost never use the high beams though because the HID low beams are so AWESOME! Purchased the bike with 6400 Mi. on it and 2 yrs. Later approaching 13,000 Mi. with no electrical issues yet......knock on wood right:smile-new:
    Enjoy your new ride!

I weigh 125 pounds at 5'6 1/2" and I have no problem with "laying my bike over" or having to lay my bike over. It is manageable. IF you cant do the bike, get a smaller one! This bike can kill you faster than one much slower and much lighter. The speed and acceleration is dangerous. Do yourself a favor and get experience the way most safety courses are advising. Start on one that you can handle. I have ridden bikes all my life and am 50 yrs of age now. I had a bike since I was 14. The first bike I recommend is a dirt bike, but if you cant do that, just go with a beginner bike. Hold that one of sell it or something until you know well enough you trust the power and the balance on it. Ride safe!

Despite what others will say, the 6th gen isnt know for bad r/r and stator, what it is known for is bad connectors and connections that kill the r/r and stator. So double check all connections including frame grounds

Randy is right, this is a good all around bike, even for beginners. The head light issue of hid draw and fuses is a matter of spending some extra time/money and putting in a headlight relay that is triggered from the existing circuit but has its own dedicated fused line back to the battery. A set of 65w halogens will pop the fuse. So any headlight mods should consider this.

main thing to look for is burnt or discolored connectors. That will tell you that you have a problem. Most dont find this until the bike stops charging the battery and they have to pull the fairings off.
I have detailed instructions on proper testing posted in several threads. Get a simple digital multimeter and you will have the most important troubleshooting tool you need.

Youll love this bike. Take some time to adjust the preloads on the suspension for your weight and riding style. The more you tweak to suit you the better the bike will be.
There are opinions upon opinions on oil, filters, tires and stickers.
So I wont give you advice on which is best. I will tell you that a paper filter is a paper filter and I prefll mine before putting it on my bike. I use rotella oil and have never had an issue. Perelli Angels ST tires have treated me very well and an Road Pilot 2 front tire as a 'I need a new tire now!' Has done wonderful.

These are very nice rides, & while the red one may be the fastest, the RWB looks better going slow .... I didn't see anyone suggest the VFRNess, added this harness to my '07 & have been quite happy since. Upgraded battery to a Shorai LiFePO, I know some don't care for the Li-ion batts yet, but mine is working out well & I wanted the weight savings. Put .95 Racetech springs up front, a Penske one-way (still a huge improvement over stock) in back, & the suspension is now nicely set up. There are many upgrades/farkles for you to choose from, although some performance upgrades aren't there like they are for CBRs, ZXs, etc. I have only 26K on mine, but that's maybe b/c I have 2 other rides to play with  ...

    Enjoy your toy ...
