    Hello
Can anybody tell me if the later style carbies will fit onto the 86 model bike? And has anyone done this?
Had a mishap with a pilot screw seized in the housing, resulting in damage to the carby housing and still have a stuck screw. Parts for the later bikes seem a bit easier to obtain.

As long as your talking gen 2 your all good, not sure what years were sold in your country. Gen 3 and up were quite different and not gonna happen.

How bout a photo or two of the problem area craigm ??

Some differences between '86 and later gen carbs is a big increase in over-all size with larger bore and more solid construction throughout.

I got hold of a set of 1988 carbs that look very much like the 86 ones for my bike. when I measured the throats and the heads there is an increase in size on these carbies from 40mm(same for the inlets on the heads) to 44mm.
has anyone performed this fitment and what inlet rubbers were used to go between the carbies and the heads?
