When a cop is caught red handed on a video, it’s usually not for drag racing his police motorcycle while on duty. The Alabama cop in question had to turn in his badge after a biker posted on YouTube a video whose footage show him drag racing the cop on his police Harley. At a red light, the biker on his CBR600RR asked if the cop wanted to race. He replied “yes, I got turbo” pointing at his Harley engine. Then the 2 motorcycles raced away from a traffic light. Watch…

Added 11/14/2013. The Montgomery Police Department is confirming that the motorcycle officer who was captured on video drag racing with a private citizen will get his job back.

Hardly worth disciplinary action of any kind.

I think the cop is a lot less likely to act cool with sportbike rider again.

    LOL!

I have my doubts about harleydood777 thinking at all or maintaining cool if that same LEO busted him on one of those farm roads flying low at a claimed 150+++.

Too late dood, we have your number. More like 000 than the perfect 777.

Probably not since I am not into that harleydood stuff.

I submit that if that same cop busted you for even close to the alleged speed, there would be more that that going on in the greybar hotel.

Here, if you are caught street racing, your vehicle gets impounded for 30 days or something like that.

That motocop sure showed very poor judgement. I don't think he should have lost his job over it, or even a suspension, but I think a coupon was in order for both these guys. The motocop does not have to race his police bike on a city road where the public is watching to show he can relate to other bike crowds. That would have been o different that me, inching up to the line, with my fully marked Camaro back in the day and doing a smoke show along side of some other fool. Not that it would be kinda fun, but common. In uniform, driving/riding a marked police vehicle. If he wants to do that, get the boss's authorization and take it out to the track. That would open up the opportunity for him to get off that bike and actually talk to other bikers face to face, without exchanging unpleasantries and coupons.

It didn't even look like they were going fast. For all we know, they never broke the speed limit.

If ya go to the larger image, the video quality is good enough to read the LCD speedo on the 600. Going by the "shiny" of the bike and the dude's gloves maybe a noob of sorts. The cop OTOH is no rookie and looks to be in a good mood. Next time maybe not....Maybe the dude on the 600 should get some of the dip shit and a vanity plate, knowing the LEO's fellow officers probably by this time know what he had for breakfast.

I read the article and I believe it actually said they never exceeded the speed limit according to the streetbiker, but who knows. Still, they weren't going fast at all because one of the bikes was a harley.

Maybe reading the speedo on the vid is deceptive. I heard that Alabama has gone metric.
