Hi, I have a 2002 VFR VTEC without ABS. Because i had an accident with it, i have to replace the front fairing bracket (upper cowl stay). I have seen on ebay several bargains, but slightly different. The bracket for an ABS model has 2 similar holders on its side and the one for a non ABS model has 2 unequal holders. My questions is: Are all the VTEC models sharing the same fairing bracket? Can i take a bracket from a 2006 (or any other year) ABS (or non ABS) model and mount it on mine? Are differences between years and models (ABS or non ABS)? Thanks a lot.
So I pulled up the microfiche and the 02 non-ABS has a P/N of 64500-MCM-D00 ABS is 64500-MCM-D10 06 non-ABS is 64500-MCM-K00 ABS is 64500-MCW-K10 It would appear to me that the non-ABS and ABS Upper Cowl Stays are different which would be expected. Whether or not you can put a ABS stay on a non-ABS bike I can't say for certain. Looking at the differences from the 02 to the 06 I think they are the same. So swapping like model for like model shouldnt matter across the years but I'd say a non-ABS to ABS is a no go. Difference between ABS and non-ABS both 02 model 06 non-ABS on the left 02 non-ABS on the right.
Thanks for reply Made some research; i think you're right about a ABS stay doesn't fit a non ABS stay. And further more, even a non ABS stay from 2006 doesn't fit on a previous year model, because HONDA changed the ECU starting with 2006 when they tweaked the VTEC. And thus, that holder for the ECU is different. At least this is what i've found from another VFR owner.
