So last week on Monday I'm riding my 2007 6th Gen merrily when I realize that my turn signals aren't working. Through a little research here on VFRW I decide to replace the fuse. I take apart the bike to get to the fuse panel (lots of work to just replace a fuse...), pop in the spare fuse and - Presto! - everything works fine again.

But before I put it all back together, I had a thought: WHY did the fuse fail? Was it a random thing or is it indicative of a more serious problem (frayed wire, etc)? Because if it DOES indicate a more serious problem, I'd rather find and fix it right now while the bike is in pieces in my garage. I can't find the link right now but there is a post on VFRW that shows a frayed wire behind the gauge cluster causing repeated blown fuses.

Obviously, I don't want to have to take the bike apart again if I don't have too, so I thought I'd ask y'all.

Let me know what you think. I appreciate y'alls' help...

I would have a look at the signal lamp connectors and sockets. Corrosion is not a big problem down there, but it wouldn't hurt to check them. I wouldn't think that the horn would be the cause.

If you want, you could do a wiggle check on all the harnesses that are available, just for peace of mind.

    Thanks for the advice.

Since I have to leave for work tomorrow morning at 4 AM, I had to get the job done early today. I did as karazy suggested which was to do a 'look-see' for any obvious issues. Everything looks pretty good so I just buttoned her up.

I think and hope it was a one-time issue but we'll see, I guess. Now that I've torn her open that far once, I can do it again next time with less work.

Same thing now happening to me. Eating fuses like they are corn...pop corn. I get the 10A in and it blew. I did see frayed wires behind gauges. Is this something Honda should fix on my '07.

It's most likely the connection on the block on the front left that causes the most issues. Run another bypass wire to earth.
