New 2014 VFR800

I am going to wait until Japan makes all the changes that Princess Norcalboy has told them they have to make. What I still can't figure out is why they don't use this engine in a factory chopper.

 

WTF did you think it was gonna end up like? Look at the top mods people perform to these bikes, most of them have been incorporated into this machine and now the sniveling starts.

If I was Honda I would give up even trying to figure out what it is that USA VFR owners want, because it is an utter waste of time, why?, because you can't have a $10k Gold Wing that's an RC30 too.

Is it really that important that you can see the swingarm or that it has an overweight multi spoke rear rim? Fuck no it isn't, because ya can't see it while riding the damn thing and it does absolutely nothing to make it a better motorcycle. Couldn't understand VTEC?, why should they give ya anything else? I can hear the Honda engineers in Hammamatsu having a good laugh with liberal use of the phrase "Baca Gaijin". Honda is a very progressive company technologically, and 99.9% of VFR owners aren't.

"vtec" on a motorcycle is just an excercise in unnecessary over engineering. other than quieting the bike down somewhat at lower RPMs, I can't see the lower end ft/lbs gain being that significant to warrant the annoyance of adding more components, and a step in the power band. It doesn't make an engine overall more powerful.

honda has as history of making expensive highly engineered products that sell like crap. I see their move of dropping "VTEC" in the Interceptor as a marketing gimmick. There's a simpler and smoother way of improving low end torque that doesn't require suddenly popping 2 valves open.

If they really wanted to move the 800 forward, they would be employing the unicam setup like in the 1200.

 

I certainly like the bodywork styling. It looks more Honda-ish than my 2004.

 

I'll say this, as someone who wouldn't mind getting a new VFR to replace Ole Cap; if they made a RWB of this revamped model, I'd be trying to figure out how to import one...

 

Apparently Honda concurs with my sentiment as they just announced the 2014 will be a 750. I still need to clean mine up a bit and put it up for sale.

 

I can hear those vroom-vroom noises from here. Amazing how sound travels these days.

I keep looking at the dates on these posts.
I have been around here for a little while and can't help noticing the similarities in conversation between 2007, 2010, 2012, and now.

I think the new model looks like the 5th gen, which I am partial to.
The rest...I shall leave to the rest of you to discuss.

 

The US version will still be a 700 according to the honda website.

 

Seen the photo's of the new VFR....... and I like it the wheels are sexy, take a bow Honda. I've heard the 1200 is up for a face lift too (which it needs)

Thanks truewheel. That's a sexy bike. Nice blend of 5th and 6th IMO. I hope they decide to bring it over to the U.S.

 

I for one was hoping for a new 800 that was more pure vfr and this looks like it will be just that!
