I bought my dream bike last night. Not my favorite year, but my favorite line of street bikes. Its a 1986 Honda 700 VFR. It has about 45k miles on it. The paint and fairings are rough, but it runs great, rides awesome, and sounds like a beast. I'm a member of a few Mustang forums as well. I have a supercharged 92 mustang, and a 1985 yamaha xj700 maxim I'm building as a bobber. Anyways, happy to be hear and can't wait to learn from you guys, as I will definitely have some questions. Anybody out here from Seattle, WA? And how often do valves need to be checked?

    Mods:

    Honda CBR f2 wheel conversion.
CBR suspension from triple tree down
    aftermarket 4-1 exhaust
    Yoshimura muffler
Brand new 160 wide rear tire

Is that a fair price? I thought so, but that's only relative to the supply/demand and pricing in the Seattle.

If I find good fairings for cheap, then yea. The fairings are cracked in quite a few places, so I won
t waste any time painting these ones. I'm more concerned about mechanical stuff for now

I think it's a fair price if it's running good. I think the valve checks are 16k on my 98 but I may have skipped the last 3 or 4. shh don't tell Honda.

It's a fine bike, a Honda bike but SO far below anybody's real dream bike compared with newer stuff. Functionally an antique. Of course it's $10,000 less too !!@*

Painted black like that suggests a youthfully immature or seriously unkucky former rider who didn't care for maintenance. But it's all there, lookin good. Great score !

Your right, I might have gotten carried away. I was excited. I'm not a huge sport bike fan yet.. So this bike is perfect for me right now. Especially considering the price. I probably wouldn't have bought it, if it didn't have the CBR wheel and fork conversion. I heard that is about a $1500 upgrade. Im loving the huge rear tire, since the stock tires on a 1st and second gen look like their straight off of a moped.

This is more along the lines of my dream bike. I like to build things, and express what I like artistically. I love things that can be made simply, but beautifully. That's why I love bobbers.
