I went to cycle gear today and picked up a pair of Astars S-MX1 boots (more like shoes) Rode with them on just now. I love them! Comfortable as a basketball show, yet decent enough protection. I can feel and shift the shifter just fine. I'm happy, hopefully I'll never have to test out how they hold up in a crash. Thanks guys for all the input.

I hope sending your feet to UK is not too expensive although I would think getting them back from there would better than trusting some dude in Sri Lanka.

Feet in hand? Oh the agony of da feet.

One thing is for sure. If you did have web feet you wouldn't need waterproof boots. ;)

The Cortecs may have been a bad run and defective. It might be worth investigating some.

Same size here.. I never quite figured out those Euro sizes that only have the one dimension.

Good to hear that you are back in business since the only dudes here that are shiftless are the harleydoods.

It took a couple of weeks to really break them in. At first it was an adjustment for me, but I wore them to school and walked in them for a few hours and by the end of the day they were loosening up. I do have an older gen bike so perhaps the shift lever placement is slightly different. Side note: I do find that preloading the shifter with the stiffer boot is way easier. A lot less fatigue on my leg.

I'm just afraid that if I wear them around just to break them in, I will destry the brand newness of them (resale purposes) and loose $160 I spent on them. I'd much rather sell them for a smaller loss.

Understandable, my foot/ leg isn't going to be the same as yours so what worked for me won't necessarily work for you. They are leather and I know leather can take some breaking in, i.e starts out stiff. Have you gone to a shop to try on other boots just for the sake of comparison? That may give you a better idea of the different kinds of fit based on the type boot you're looking for.

Yeah I actually picked up a pair of AlpineStars S-MX1 boots from cycle gear yesterday. They are V-cut on the back of the ankle and not as tall, so they work perfect. Not quite the protection, but far better then tennis shoes.
