I thought I'd follow up. Last weekend, I tore the right fairing off the VFR, reached in, pinched the connector on both sides, and it came off just like that. My '06 doesn't have a socket that the bulb goes in. The H4 bulb just fits into the headlight housing and attaches with the little clip and the connector clips to the bulb.

Since I replaced the right bulb with a Sylvania Silver Star that was brighter and a different color temperature than stock, I went ahead and swapped out both bulbs. I had no problem changing the left bulb without removing any of the plastics. It's a bit cramped, but I could manage the whole process just reaching in between the fairing and triple-t.

Thanks for all the help. Once I found the release, this was really easy. I feel kind of stupid for the 45 minutes of struggling beforehand.

Again, the help is much appreciated.

    Tom

I've been having the same exact problem and can't remove the connector on the back of the bulb. Were is the side clip located?

    Hi all,

I signed up for an account with VFR World just so I could thank you all for your comments in this thread!

I recently had to change both low-beam lights in my 2006 VFR800. skimad4x4 thank you for the extremely detailed PDF. However, I found that replacing the low-beam bulbs was quite challenging due to the clips that have been mentioned by the other posters.

I was able to disengage the clip on the left low-beam bulb by pressing on it with my hands only. However, for the right low-beam bulb, I ended up having to insert two long flat blade screwdrivers into the area where the socket plug was, and press on each side of it with them and pull at the same time. This was finally able to put enough pressure on the clip to allow me to pull the plug out!

Note: the clips are located on the left side for the left low-beam bulb and the right side for the right low-beam bulb and are in slightly from the back end of the plugs, close to the rubber gasket.

    Thanks again everyone!
