Hi Guys, Ive been into bikes my whole life,I recently bought a Red 2003 VFR800 non Abs , 14 k ,minter ! I'm loving it , have purchased a set of Michelin PR2 s and D.I.D top line chain and Afam sprockets and a set of hard bags from DSS. The bike was completely stock except for the LSL bar conversion. On the list is a Sergeant seat and Power commander, all the usual stuff to make a good bike better! Cheers Mick
Hi Mick Welcome to the MadHouse :welcome: Sounds like you own a nice bike - but some folks on here won't believe you without seeing pictures! Take care SkiMad
Welcome fellow cheesehead. Where infhe soon to be great frozen north do you build your igloo and hanv your touque?
Ok, Randy, either you have had a bit too much Scotch, Beer, or you are trying to type replies to posts on your phone while wearing your winter gloves, and touque. To the OP, Mick Welcome to the WORLD from yet another Canuck. We appear to be a bit of a minority here on the site so the more the merrier. LOL. Congrats on your new purchase and enjoy the bike, as we are all SURE you WILL. Not that we here at VFRW are at all partial in our choice of rides. NOOOOO, not partial, a little fanatical maybe, but................... Just got a new Sargent for my bike and so far I think it is FANTASTIC. Don't know how my butt survived this many years without one. Enjoy the riding for as long as it may last (wherever in Canada you may call home?) and don't forget to keep her shiny side up. If you happen to be like Randy, your biking season will never end. Sometimes I don't like Randy. LOL Cheers
Where come to the world mate  Congratulation on your new to you ride, you just got yourself the world best vfour machine. Wait.......where are the pictures? are you sure ou not one of those Canuk wanna be cool ound: Just kidding boss :congratulatory: hurry up get some miles on her before :smow: arrive
Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I am in Thornbury ,Ontario, just north of Collingwood , I just pulled the air box today and found this mess! I'm surprised it ran at all! My hard bags from Silvers arrived at my buddies today!
Holly Mouse Nest. A mess is right. Clean that up and re-oil and you should see a marked improvement in its running. The bags are a bit of a pain to install the first time around. When I put mine on last year, I must admit, I swore just a little. I found that you should not tighten any of the bolts until they are all attached. Worked for me anyways. If I tightened the bolts anywhere during the install, the next step or the one after that, would not fit proper.
Thanks Randy, Like your bike... What is that rear wheel you are running? Ordered a new old stock filter off eBay just now ! Hopefully we can get another ride or two in before the white misery descends!
Allow me to answer that one quickly. The rear wheel on the bike is the 8 spoke rear wheel off the 91-93 (3rd gen VFR750). They are highly sought after and will fit any year VFR from 91 on thru 2008 I believe with no modifications. Just bolt on and ride. Not sure if the wheel fits the new 7th gen VFR1200 though as that rear tire is larger. Very nice upgrade if you can find one. They are a 5.5" wide rear wheel so they use the 180/55 R17 rear wheel which is the common size rear tire on the 91-93 and 98-2008 VFR
Also, as of today, both the front and rear wheels have been powdered so white, you would swear they are virgins. Cleaning up the over spray to have tires mounted and balanced tomorrow.
Just to reiterate what zoom-zoom said, here is a nice thread from VFRD: http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/49611-rear-wheelstires-the-end-all-discussion/
