Well there is no joy in Muddville today. Looks like the VFR is going in for major surgery. Took her in to have the Harness Recall done on her... It's not a good outlook right now. Not only was the BBC melted together but subsequent inspection of the main harness shows massive melt points at just about every connector. Including spots on the harness itself where the insulation has completely turned to powder. The Master Mech at the dealer said he has never seen one this bad and was amazed that I had been riding it since July. On the bright side we figured out what the intermittent charging issues were being caused by. So pictures were taken and emailed off to Mother Honda. The hopeful outcome is that I get a new main and Sub-harness. The dealer also did the pre-purchase inspection and missed that the recalls were still outstanding so they have agreed that once the harness' are in and the bike runs again that if the R/R is marginal they will replace it for free. I checked battery voltage before I left the house this morning and it was sitting at ~13.2 @idle and 13.0-14.1 at 5k so it was a good day. The intermitent charging issue that I had been experiencing was out of the blue it would just quit charging going down the road. Changing rpms ±2k fixed the problem until the next time. The first time it happened was when I called the dealer to verify that the recalls had been done.

I also managed to grab about an hour on this beauty while I was waiting. ... Got back with an ear to ear grin. Sales guy asked what I thought. Only thing I could come up with was "FREAKING WOW" My gawd that bike is just smooth power multiplied smooth power.

No, it's not a VFR. Exists a more beautiful bike than a VFR does not. That Ninja is fugly...JMO. Only thing it's missing is a stretched rear and some glo-lights.

Just got a call from the Service Manager. Honda has determined from the pictures that the VFR needs a complete harness.. Headlight to Taillight. Harness is on the way should be here by the end of next week. Total cost to me will be about $100 due to them having to take the Headlight and Brake light modulators out and re-installed. I'm totally ok with this as I had expected them to just cut them out and I'd re-install them at my leisure over the winter.
