bought a trashed out 86 VFR 700 from a guy going to iraq...all plastics other then the fairing was trash...rear tire is next to nothing...but against all better judgment...IM GONNA RESTORE HER!....already got the motor pulled to replace the broken exhuast pipes..ordering me a new rear tire in a day or two...just need to find those elusive platics. some of them are far more expensive then im really looking to put into the bike...are there any "newer" plastics...maybe from another model bike i could use? or maybe a cheap place to find the tail section....i can live without the lowers...but really need the tail section...cheapest ive found so far is almost 300...ok well this is long enough...just wanted to tell my ongoing story and that im glad i found this awsome site....lots of great info on here.

Hi Adam. Welcome to the group. Best of luck restoring it. I think Maier (sp) Manfacturing might make some plastci for it. There might be someone else here that possibly knows a source for plastic for your year model. And, yeah, plastic ain't cheap. I just spen $600 for two pieces for my 93. Keep an eye on ebay as well, soemtimes parts pop up there. We have a new bot that will also hunt down and post ebay auctions on here so keep a look out for those too.

hey vman38 and reg71. first off thanks for taking the time out for me. second...lol.. the only plastics that came with the bike were the front fairing and one lower..i found a place that has lowers for $86 a panel...now i just have to find that tail section...ugh. wish i could just throw a tail section from a early 90's cbr on it till i could save the money to buy one from VFRchuck...just cant do the 300 he wants right now. if anyone knows if a different model tail will fit...let me know...im itching to get out on the road. thanks in advance.
