Can someone recommend a peak voltage adapter? I have a meter that can do min/max, but after reading up on this, it doesn't seem that is sufficient to measure peak voltage applications on motorcycles.

So I want to purchase an adapter, I am looking at this one from CDI:
    CDI DVA Adapter: 511-9773NL

they also sell it with leads, but I don't need those:
CDI DVA Adapter and Test Leads: 511-9773

I just want to buy something decent that will work. Just want to measure things like my CXP sensor, etc.

You could try using an old oscilloscope, or a USB oscilloscope.

i would scope it myself or use a spectrem analyser

I am not sure I understand the oscope and spectrum analyzer recommendations. I am talking about just checking peak voltage. An adapter is maybe $50, it will store the instantaneous peak voltage from the CMP or CKP sensors and allow me to read it via a DC meter.

I have seen some ultra portable scopes go for $150 or so used, and spectrum analyzers just seem like $$$$...........

If I should be using one of these devices can someone just give me a little background on why to use that vs. just a peak voltage adapter? I could potentially spring for a $100-150 portable o-scope thing, but all I am trying to do is eliminate my CKP as being faulty as per the manual.

The scope suggestion was just in case you or a friend has one laying around somewhere (or if you can find an old one for $20 on ebay that works).
