Weather looks good for the Oregon part of the trip home.

Best to maybe back off some on the central coast part. Lots of various LEOS who are out to catch the turistas and collect as many pesos as possible before Winter sets in.

Many places are patrolled by the Oregon State Police. the local cops and the County Sheriffs . Some of the smaller burgs have cops that shouldn't be cops and are more subjects to be analyzed by proctologists.

Not much in the way of Honda support on the coast. One sort of dealer in Florence that is mostly small engine repair. If open, a pit stop at "All Ride Motorsports" in Newport. Mostly harleydoods who are old farts and have no teeth to speak of. Guy to talk to there is Pat. Good dude and a highly skilled wrench. Buy gas in the larger burgs, to avoid major ripoffs.

Stopped in Astoria Oregon for the night. Suppose to rain tomorrow so may head inland. Thank you to randy and his lovely bride for their hospitality. I had a great stay. That road was awesome for a stretch got to hit some nice curves thru the bay with no traffic. Video to come when I get back.

Well.....I guess it is time for me to post up and spill the beans about our esteemed guest. The man finally arrived in the pouring rain on I think it was Friday, mid to late afternoon.

    IMGP1620.jpg

Took it easy the rest of Friday. Seems he is not one to appreciate a fine nip of scotch, so, in order that I play the decent host, and not make him feel a lesser man by drinking those pansie Desarono and Cranberry Juice drinks all by himself, I tried one too. Well, actually I had a whole fucking bunch of those babies. I could really fall in favour of those you know.

Saturday I make arrangements for a neighbour to join us for part of a ride. He rides a cruiser but we were nice to him anyways. We head up to the Hope Slide. This is something I take all my out of town guest to see. The photo does it no justice but that slide is just huge. There are still a few people buried under all that rock which came down in the early 60's I think. If you are interested in finding out more, Google "Hope Slide". There is lots on it

    IMGP1621.jpg

The neighbour had to head home but Brian and I continued on our way and stopped in at Hope, BC. This is the small town just about 40 miles east of where I live, tucked right tight up against the Cascade Mountains. Last town before you actually start into the mountains here. Like Brian said before, this is where the Rambo movies were filmed. Some of the photos of the following streams should look a little familiar. That is the Coquehalla River. The Orthellow Tunnels are on an old abandoned rail line called the Kettle Valley Railway, which was built to keep you thieving Americans from stealing all our silver when it was discovered in the area: Kettle Valley Railway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is the Coquihalla leading up to the tunnels.

This was very dark. Should have brought a flashlight

    IMGP1624.jpg

The rest are just an assortment of other angles and positions along the trail and tunnels.

Next day was Sunday. The day of rest. Right! We meet up with Kingsley and Chomper for a kinda short ride through parts of the Abbotsford, Mission area. Definitely not the same caliber of roads as Brian may be used to down in Cal, but they are nice none the less. And what trip to The True North Strong and Free, can be taken without a stop at the local Timmies eh?

    IMGP1639.jpg

The next day was not so nice for riding so we boarded the HMCS (Her Majesty's Canadian Ship) GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax. We head out for a ride to to local logging roads to explore some of the wilds of the area. I patroled these areas for 7 years and loved every minute of it. Then that bastards transfered me back into town. Wished I still had my Jimmy as it was great for these roads. Seems they had deteriorated a whole lot since last time I was on them, but I could have gone much further with the Jimmy than I could with the big truck. I don't have pix of that but Brian may.

We did make a stop in Cultus Lake, another area I patrolled. This place is packed in the summer but this time of the year, it is all but vacant, except for the year round guests. These buggers can be really nasty birds. Brian was kinda lucky cause those things like to attack. We saw a few salmon spawning nearby but they were kinda docile. Saw a few jumping up stream though.

    IMGP1640.jpg

We then went for a ride down to the Canada USA border just south of Cultus Lake where I showed Brian where I had worked a couple joint ops with the US Border Patrol, DEA and who knows who else several years back. I know he took a couple pix of that area so He can post them up if he so desires.

Monday comes along. Initially Brian was going to leave Monday but the weather was just shit. Brian was good enough to help me out with preparing for my final Class 1 Road test which I PASSED. I am convinced if it was not for Brian's help with this, I would be abandoning my efforts to get a class 1 air endorsed license. Now I just need the medical to be passed. A huge thank you to Brian for that.

But unfortunately all good things come to an end and SLOVFR has to head out. I think he is going to go home and research ways to move here to work. It seems he and I share a great admiration to the wilderness. As he heads out from here, it is pissing down rain again. I think it cleared up shortly after though when he got south of the 49th.

It was great having you here Brian and come back again. Baxter misses you.

Thanks Randy it was a blast. Don't do anything to my room just yet. I have a feeling if I was there it would mean more drinking and tire buying going on.
