    What's up VFRWorld?

I just purchased a 2008 VFR800 non ABS and I'm in love with it. So i figured I'd join a forum and ask lots of stupid questions without searching first because I know how much people love that sort of thing on forums. lol.

I kid, but anyway, it's the best bike I've ever owned as far as I'm concerned and hopefully I'll learn some tips and tricks on this forum to make it even better.

Picture, because we all love pictures:

Welcome to The World Kevin and kudos for posting the picture on your introduction post. I'm sure you'll find plenty of information to sift through here.

    Cheers!

    Thanks for the welcome's guys!

I figure posting a picture earns me the right to ask one probably common question so here goes:

I find that in first and second gears especially the transition from closed to partial throttle (ie, rolling onto the throttle gently as you enter a corner) is very abrupt compared to my previous bikes. despite my very best efforts to open the throttle very smoothly through the first few millimeters of travel I always get this lurch that's negatively affecting my confidence. Is this something that can be resolved through adjustment of the throttle cable? Or would a power commander help? or is it just a VFR thing that I need to come to terms with?

    Thanks all!

    -Kevin

This could/would be resolved with a Power Commander and the correct mapping/tuning, it did for my 6 Gen. If you have not already downloaded or bought a Honda Service Manual it would be a good idea to get one, especially if you plan on doing your own service/maintenance. I think Scubalong knows where the manual download is located, I could never seem to find it again. It also wouldn't hurt to check the throttle cable slack and make sure your air filter/air box is clean. There have been cases where "critters" have made a nice nest out of the air box.

You might have to use a file sending service, especially if the file is bigger than 10MB as most email servers put a size cap. I use to use a service called "You Send It" but their limit is 25MB (for the free service). The have changed their name to High Tail (www.hightail.com) and I believe that their service is still free for files smaller than 25MB. The scanned manual I have, which even has bookmarks, is 209MB!

Welcome Probie. Nice pix and good for you. Next part of your initiation is to sign your pink slip in the area that says "Seller" and send to me. There is a link somewhere here on this site for your gen of manual. If you can't find it, send me a PM. I will copy my disc and send it off to you in the make. It is over 600 pages PDF so yes, it is a huge file.
