white vfr1200 paint supply problem

hi
can anyone help,i have the white vfr and ive purchased a 45 litre back box all stripped and sanded now but im unable to get the white paint.my backbox is with a car paint and repair centre and they just cant get a paint match.any help would be much appreciate

If your luggage is stripped it will need primer, then sanding. Your painter needs to get the paint from Honda. Trying to match a white or an off white to factory paint whether by eyeball or computer is near impossible. Close but no cigar..

 

rsbikepaint.com should be able to supply the paint and lacquer - presumably Pearl sunbeam white - which should be spot on the original but it is not cheap.

You might want to check if this lot have the paint you want as they tend to be cheaper - bikecolours.com - their website is hopeless but they do have a phone line.

Sadly with these fancy multi layer paint systems cheaper options have pretty much disappeared.

Yep it's pearl sunbeam white.

 

Your source has this in lacquer? I'm thinking like the UK color system the terminology is UK centric. Best deal IMO is to paint it black to diminish the overall look. Those bigass lumps on a perfectly great looking bike is not only butt ugly but lacking in taste. The single caveat is if it's full of beer.

 

managed to get some mixed at last from a company recommended,they knew exactly what it was.apparently its three stage but the problem was the second coat was a fine sort of crushed glass that nobody did,dam £65 for 285ml.

hopefully my 45l topbox will be looking like the bike very soon

The box may be the same color. The bike will look like it has some sort of growth that should have been surgically removed.

had mine done and painted found a black one for the right money and painted it white
standard vfr rack with standard top box plate fitted
now for the clever bit
the honda cross tourer rear metal plate fits our rack perfectly it bolts straight in the 4 holes that are there allowing the plastic plate to fit
