Hi this is my first post so please bear with me.

Last weekend someone tried to unsuccessfully steal my bike. I didn't notice until I tried to start her up that the immobiliser wouldn't turn off. I did the suspect anything as I have had intermittent hiss issues in the past.

Anyway I eventually look down the front to see all 4 wires of what I thought was the ignition cut and twisted together in some febel attempt to hot wire the bike.

Though it seems after further thought and inspection it was the hiss wires cut as turning the key still powers the bike etc.

I would like to know what my options would be. I understand from research and previous threads that hiss is expensive to replace. I am hoping that I can solder the 4 wires back together but the length coming from the hiss module is only an inch or so.

If anyone has any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

First, Welcome to The World! Sorry your first post was about almost losing your ride and damage to your bike. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to wait for some of the European members to chime in as the US models don't have the HISS keys, at least not that I am aware of. Maybe Skimad will be here soon with his input...he's a smart guy BTW.

    Cheers

Hey thanks for the swift reply.. Yeah I've been trying to research as much as I can since Sunday.. And only finally got the front fairing and dials off tonight to get a better look.

If it is possible to solder will it be easy enough to remove the hiss ring from the top yoke and unplug the other end to work on a bench?

I hope someone will give me positive news soon enihgh.. As I can hopefully get things fixed or in the right direction on my day off on Sunday.

If you have patient and a handyman I am sure you can get some wire with same gauge and solder them together by following the Diagram. Hope one of the Erope or Ausie guy will chimp in soon.
:welcome: to the world mate, sorry for hear about the bike. Theft should be :chaingun:

I'm an Aussie, but I only have a wiring diagram for a '98-'99 (pre-HISS). That being said, I would be surprised if soldering the wires didn't work. If they're too short, add in a bit. Just make sure you match the wire colours, or the HISS module will probably have a HISSie-fit! ;-)

That being said, you may want to take the two halves of the wiring loom to someone who has spliced and soldered wires before if you haven't done it yourself. Overheating the wires can lead to problems, as can under heating them, and you need to make sure it's all water-tight (much easier said than done).

I'd probably fix it to get back on the road, then get another one, and keep the repaired one just in case it happens again. Which reminds me... I really must wire in my alarm/immobiliser sometime...

    Good luck!

Hey.. Update.. I finally managed to get time to get the front off and top yoke off and unplugging the severed wire from the loom was a sinch.

Took top yoke with hiss attached and cut wire to my closest bike garage (Suzuki) and they had it fixed same day only £30.. Done a much better job than I ever would of dreamed of doing.

Finally reassembled the bike.. And happy to sat the immobiliser shuts off and bike starts up no problem.. Luckily no expensive hiss replacement this time.

    Cheers guys.
