I own a red 1995 Vfr 750. I ride it often. I turned on ignition and all the lights came on as usual. I pushed the starter button and all my lights went out and bike will not start. I checked the main fuse and all fuses and all are good. I took apart the housing for the push button starter and sprayed wd40 and put it back together. When I put key in ignition and turn to on position still no lights on instrument panel comes on.Any ideas???

Did you check the connector at the start relay?

Loose/corroded main ground wire or battery terminals or bad ignition switch. Test battery voltage with your multimeter.

Just because the charger shows green doesn't mean that the battery is 100% good. The starter needs alot more power than is required by the lights / display so I would start by taking the battery to a parts store to get it tested. You can also try jump starting from a car battery but make sure the car is not running when jumping it. Also check the kill switch as well as the safety switch built into the sidestand.

I replaced the starter relay. I turned key and instrument panel lights came on but extremely dim and not enough power to start bike.My trickle charger still showed a green light signifying that battery was good. I had battery tested and it showed that 12 volt battery was only putting out 8 volts.I installed a "Powersports Battery" and bike started. I was told that a battery can have a bad cell and still show "Good" on trickle charger. this low voltage can cause a short circuit, which explains my starter relay burning out.
