    Hey all

Had my viffer just over a week now - running beautifully but just want to check on something...

Sometimes when I go to start her she won't fire up until I put her in neutral, yet other times she fires up in gear (clutch in and kickstand up of course).

I got pretty perplexed with this at first but over a few days I noticed it seemed to be related to how long I was off the bike. Eg if I had just quickly hopped off to pop into the shop she starts in 1st on return but if I'm leaving for work in the morning I have to put her in neutral. The length of time thing seems to be consistent so far.

This got me thinking that perhaps this is related to the HISS immobiliser - ie it fully arms after 5 minutes (guess) after which point you have to engage neutral to start her.

Can anyone confirm this or do I actually have an intermittent issue I need to sort?

Mine doesn't have HISS so unsure on that but does it have a standard or Pazzo clutch lever ? Mine has PAZZO and it's a bit random if it'll start with the cluch in and in gear on my comfort span, adjust one click wider and no problem.

My 2007 will start in gear - provided the side stand is fully up (ie switch is not sticking) and the clutch is held in - even if it is not in neutral.

I am wondering however and suspect this is totally irrelevant - there is one known cause of intermittent problems with the HISS security. Namely if there are other transponder equipped keys nearby which interfere with the encrypted authentication. So its never a good idea to have the motorbike and car key on the same key-ring. Depending on what immobiliser chip the HISS transponder authentication detects it may be seeing and receiving the wrong response code. In which case it won't start...

No, I have std levers - I did adjust the lever for the least amount of free play the day I picked her up though.
I'll check if starting her in neutral with clutch in or not makes any difference. I don't think levers are the problem though.

Thanks, handy to know that but I don't have any other transponder keys. BTW, how far apart do other transponder keys have to be to avoid interference?
