Hello all, what kind of mileage do you guys and gals have on your first generation VFR's? I'm especially interested in the VF1000R's out there from 85 & 86. As someone looking to buy one what kind of mileage is or could be a potential problem or cause for alarm if valve adjustments or maintenance cannot be verified?

Thanks for your input, its greatly appreciated.

I have over 100k miles on my R. Works out to around 4k a year. I had 13k on it the first 6 months I had it. I maintained that mileage for the next few years then slowly tapered it off. It's been off the road a few times for mods. More busy now but ride it pretty regularly.

Wow, good to know Hopit88. Do you know when your first clutch replacement came into play?

    I've got 54,000 K on my 84 750. I'm pretty sure PO's never changed clutch,
and it is starting to slip, so I'm going to do the clutch soon (hoping I can make it to winter).
Don't do a lot of miles but do like to wring it out when I can!

Just bought my 84 VF750F with 77,700 kms runs like a top. Had a timing chain noise when I bought it. I took it home did oil and filter change and noise seems to be gone now. I hope to keep it on the road for many years as I do love this classic old bike.

While we are talking about mileage, just stumbled upon a 99 VFR 800 on Ebay with 110,000 miles and priced accordingly. Sounds like the owner got his money out of that bike.......

83 VF750F 69k miles, original cams. Replaced clutch (OEM) about 55k. Just regular maintenance. Right side handle bar switch starter button broke once and a starter solenoid. Stock rear shocks suck.
