Hi guys Just trying to figure out if my shock could be worse then I realise or there is something else I am missing. It mainly feels like the arse end is 'floaty' when going around corners at a bit of a lean. Its not scary or unnearving, just more not planted or confidence building since i am new to riding a bike again. Me: 100kg (220lbs) + riding gear. No luggage and no pillion bike 2006 vfr non abs w/ 34000km tyre: rear - perelli diablo strata, close to new, 42psi front - perelli angle gt, close to new, 36psi Front forks - fork seals + oil replace at start of year, assuming standard set up (would suit previous owner) Rear shock - standard. preload was 2 clicks but felt soft, felt unstable as well. Now set to 4 clicks, firmer but still unstable. I have put it up on its center stand and checked for free play in the wheel and swing arm and both feel fine. I am considering getting to suspension worked on to be suited to my weight but its a matter of time, and the local guru is on holidays. Any insight or opinions appreciated. Cheers Shane
ok. As per normal, I have found more info after I posted. Sounds like a similar problem to this thread http://vfrworld.com/forums/mechanics-garage/38158-loose-rear-end.html They talk about wallowing and adjusting the rebound, but I thought the stock shock only had preload adjustment only?
*cough*ohlins*cough* Ha! I wish. Actually starting to get some bits together to do something I havent heard of being done in the rear. I am hoping it will be a bolt in option with fully adjustable spring preload, high and low speed compression and rebound dampening. But again, thats the dream right..... Ok. Went thru the manual and found how to adjust it and where it is. Sounds like it will sort it out. Just wait and see now.
