Sorry to bug you guys with another R/R question. It looks like my R/R has gone on the blink. I have found one locally but it is a SH691-12 as opposed to my SH693 -12 (off a VFR400 I'm told) Any reason why it shouldn't work ( a google search shows it to be for a CBR600 or 750 Shadow) Many thanks.

i think it should work no problem. Just check the spade lug terminal connections for tightness or solder them on for peace of mind.

Thanks kennybobby. I bought it but it's now overcharging. Would swapping the stator wires around make a difference? (I don't want to experiment too much for fear of the overcharging blowing my cdi up) Or should I just kick myself for paying R400 (about $40) to find out my stator is ok and move on with another R/R

It may be a defective unit also. They all work the same and have the same voltage limits, maybe slightly different current capabilities (e.g 20 amps vs 25 amp Max), but they are either working good or not and ready to go up on ebay... If the internal Zener diode is blown it will overcharge.

I just upgraded mine to a Mosfet style you should do the same. If not I have some good R/R's I can do without now. $40.00 shipped for both.

Would love to man, unfortunately shipping to SA would be prohibitive. However, my girlfriends brother lives in the States, so if I can make a plan I will send you a PM, thanks. Just finished fitting a Suzuki one and it seems to be working ok. Charging a touch high (14.8) but it's nice and stable. Took the opportunity to bypass all the plugs and ran new wires straight to the R/R.

I would change to a Mosfet one but availability is a problem here, no aftermarket ones available and the dealers ( one for a Yamaha R1 for example) want an absolute fortune. So I'm back to the problem of shipping one out.

I guess I should have looked at location. 14.8 would be fine and generally will settle down when battery is fully charged.
