I live in New Zealand and will be arriving in Albuquerque (NM) on May10 for a 11 day ride. I have pre-purchased a MINT 1999, 3700 mile VFR for this purpose. The bike has a clear TX title and has been stored in a heated garage in Houston since I bought it last Sept (2006). Everythings good......until....my damn back goes awol and I am not relishing the idea of 11 days (and about 3500 miles) on the VFR. I rode a friends' V-Strom yesterday and LOVED it, then I found a V-Strom for sale in NM which is perfect and the owner says he will look after the VFR for me whilst I sell it (and assist with shipping where possible). Sorry this has taken so long, but the real question is........

What are my chances of getting $4000 for this bike in the not too distant future? I would use Ebay, Craigslist, etc. I don't want this to drag on forever as I don'y know how long this guy will be happy storing etc.

Any advise from all you 5th gen price-meisters will be appreciated.

$ 4000.00 USD is a very very good price on a 99 mint VFR and you should have no problem selling it.

But let me get this right, the former owner of the VFR in Houston is going to assist you on the sale with clean title in hand? Not trying to sound negative but it is kind of a rare situation...

No, the seller of the Vstrom in NM will assist with the sale and I have the title here in NZ. I have a scanned copy which I can send to prospective purchasers to assure them it is clean.

hmm, I might be interested in this. I have actually been considering picking up another one. I know, I know, 5 bikes is probably too many as it is, but 6 is a nice even number. So you have a TX title, and it (the title) is in NZ? Hmm, I'm wondering how much trouble changing this over would be...assuming everything is legit... Send me a PM, I'll e-mail you about it and see what we see...

Reg, with the age of the bike what it is, there will be no issue transferring title from TX to CA

Forgot to mention it - the bike also has a PC3 and a K&N filter.
