I have a 1983 750 VF in my garage. Its a friends. I am wondering if I can change his fork oil with out removing the forks and a complete disassembly? if so which bolts are the drain bolts or is it the brass bolts that attatch to the bottom of the dampner rod? I dont have the fork seal driver to put new seals in so if I can avoid a complete disassembly that would be great. if I have to take the fork tubes out and do a complete disassembly then it is what it is and I'll have to figure something out. the seals are not leaking but when I pulled the bolt that looked like the drain bolts nothing came out? I didn't see anything in the manual or a maintinence schedule of changing the fork fluid. The owner doesn't remember ever changing out the fork fluid so he wants it done as part of this tune up. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you in advance. I am a retired Phd cert Master HD Tech so this is not my first radio, but then I am real careful when working on a bike this old. This is in excellent condition for a 1983.

I don't think they have a fluid drian at the bottom of the fork leg, so no. It's not a hard job to drop the forks & change the fluid. have fun.
