I ride in tn. Mainly and fairly decent roads. I run about the same pressures but I have a shop balance them for me. That could be the difference. I think balancing them yourself has to be bette. I usually do a pretty fast pace on the road but never much over 85 and I don't rev my bike real high and try to ride smooth as I can just to kinda flow through corners. I started a thread once wondering how much suspension setup can affect tire wear. I run all the stock springs etc and have my preload cranked to nearly max. I suppose that has a lot to do with it also. Because it seems there has to be some variables as to why one rider on a similar bike weight etc.. can have such different mileage out of a same tire? Hope some of this helps the op

Sounds like we ride cery similarly. Id rather hold a good fast line through a corner than blast down the straights straights and creep through the curves. What tires do you run?

Have been on pilot powers for a while now. The cycle shop sells them pretty cheap and keeps them in stock. It runs me about 90 for the front and 105 for the rear. I'm certainly am not about to change the way I ride just to save my tires and was worried maybe I was riding a little to fast but a lot of guys on here let me know they ride similar to how I ride so I don't guess I'm the demon rider I thought I was. Every once in a while if a straight is just begging to be ridden fast I may take it over a 100 but just for a moment. I get a much bigger thrill executing a corner perfectly. Not much feels better than knowing you nailed it perfectly.

Hahaha its all relative. 55 on 15MPH compound corner is bookin'. 50mph on some 40mph corners is just downright dangerous. I ride at a pretty decent clip when im feeling it. When I really get into it, my rides are like a workout. Very active and riding hard.

The regular pilot powers are single compound. Have you tried PP2CTs? I really like em and the harder middle compound can help them last a bit longer. But you are getting a decent price on regular PPs.

The standard Michelin Pilot Powers and Dunlop Qualifiers are great sport tires and the stick well etc but they dont go much past 3k.

Which is why the PP2CTs and Q2s are now what is selling. The multi-compound tires are the shizzy.

I have a ppct2 on the rear now that is shot. I may have gotten 500 miles more and true it didn't seem to flat spot as quickly as a regular pp. So the q2 is comparable to the 2ct? I can tell you a tire to avoid is the shinko advance. Has to be the scariest tire I have ever used. Has a really round profile when new with slow handling response and will flatten out in the center extremely quick leaving a very narrow contact patch when leaning over and its not sticky enough once you get past that point. Luckily I had a nail get into it and gladly threw it away. Even when new I would feel it squirm when leaned over feeling like it could slide out. I sure wish I had roads I could work out on near me. When I lived near san diego and would go in the mountains I could get that work out. A friend of mine at work and I are planning a trip to the dragon sometime this fall though and maybe there will be a workout there

Lots of speculation on tires here. Wear factor, riding style, overall loading ect but little about the wear factor and grip of the actual roadbed from place to place. Case in point. The paving in SoCal is a hell of a lot different than in Maritime Canada. Snow is a big factor in the construction of the roadbed. Grip is needed for all vehicles and it sure will wear a tire out in hurry.

This unless we have some dudes that fancy themselves as potential Moto-GP material. LOL

I got a lesson on roadbeds in general from civil engineer at a BMW meet in Canada one year.

Just for grins look up "the maryhill loops road" it gets rented every year for a thing we call Sportbike Northwest.

One thing I could never figure out is the dudes who mix tire brands or replace a worn tire and think nothing of leaving the other one on that might be in crappy condition with maybe a few more miles left..

I like to think I'm Moto-GP material. I tell ya, when I'm drafting a Winnebago, I got Stoner macho all over me..

Who do you like being on the straights? I always liked Elvis or Keith Richard.

just put pirelli angels on mine this morning. cant say much except that they ride and feel tons better than the stock dunlops. turn in is just a thought and ur there, can only describe it as instinctive. read all the reviews and talked to other riders before i purchased them. a few tires out perform them on the track and a few ride better on the street. but it seems that none do both nearly as well. like the vfr its self, it seems to be the ultimate in compromise. and suppose to be a 7500 mile tire. a few guys, and one girl, i know run them and they all gave great reviews. i dont really care if the new dunlops are a half a second faster around laguna seca! for the way i ride, sporty cruising, the angels seem like the right tire for me

I've loved the PR3s on mine so far, but the front seems to wear a lot faster than expected. In fact I'm due to replace it -before- the rear sometime this month, as it's pointed and out of tread on the sides.
