I am having fuel float issues....but My 1984 VF700 Interceptor started to an idle under choke while injecting gas into line. Sounded as smooth as ever.
However after bypassing siezed fuel pump my stuck floats allowed fuel into cylinders and am now cleaning bowls and float needles. I'm sure once this is completed bike should run good.
Note: I purchased new off floor in 1985 and proceeded to put 68K miles on before storing (incorrectly) since 2000. I wrecked it once, repaired it, and then a friend slid it in some dirt. repaired it. Then it was stolen from my garage and later returned with no added miles on it. Thief left it on someones patio because he got tired of pushing it. Police returned it to me as good as new. Got to love stupid theives! Anyhow.....this bike owes me nothing but I'm sure will again rip it up.

If you don't go thru the carbs completely the first time. You will be taking them off the second time. Setting for 13yrs with gas in them and most likely moister. Good luck........................

Don't bother cleaning carbs unless you flush and clean the fuel tank at the same time. If you find rust, you need to apply a coating to the tank interior. Very often, what causes float needles to leak is fuel tank rust flakes stuck in the needle/seat area. And change your oil immediately cuz running it diluted with fuel will ruin the engine.

Then get a disposable clear fuel filter and install it below the tank.
Installed where you can see it easily is great, when that location is available.
But it's a lot easier to replace a $4 filter than to clean the crap out of your carbs... again.
