A couple of days ago I noticed a solid click sound coming from my front left brake caliper on my 96 VFR. Bike has 38000 miles on it and I replaced the stock brake pads with the EBC HH pads about 1200 miles ago. Haven't noticed this until a couple days ago. It seems like at low speed (less than 10mph) if I hit the brakes hard and cause the nose to dive I hear a click. Braking power seems unaffected at any speed, so I'm not sure what is going on here. Caliper mounting bolts are tight. I was going to pull the caliper this evening and inspect it but wondering if anyone has experienced this and what they did to resolve it.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

I haven't had a click but I did find that the anti rattle spring thingy was quite thin and it was easily assembled incorrectly with one of the fingers out of place. For me it resulted in a slight scraping sound as the finger made contact with the edge of the rotor.

The only time I have had a click when braking it was caused by head bearings.

I thought that too...I replaced them with tapered ones a couple thousand miles ago. I lifted the front end, grabbed the wheel and rocked the bike to see if there is any wobble and there wasn't any. Even though I definitely hear the sound emanating from the left side, I'm not going to rule it out though.

    Slider pins......

Dija remove the caliper from its carrier bracket and inspect, clean, and re-grease the slider pins when you changed the pads ??

New headset bearings may need a little tightening after a few hundred miles of settling in.

Well I believe I finally found the source of the click sound - its the brake disc. If you grab the disc and twist it parallel to the wheel (rotational direction...whatever you want to call it), I get the click sound. So there appears to be a tiny amount of slop since its a floating disc. Maybe Im noticing it now because I swapped the original worn brake pads for new EBC HH pads which are quite a bit grippier. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Worn out floater buttons. Not spozzed to be movement around, but a little side-to- side is OK
