Hi fellow vfr owners, my brief introduction to you is that I have been a rider for many years and took a break from it then I purchased this awesome bike. 2001 VFR 800 interceptor, it has only 15k on it , when I collected the bike from my friend who rarely used it the bike was running perfect, then it failed to start, I did the basic stuff like change a air filter and oil etc. cleaned everything etc. I went through the diagnostic stuff in the manual and first I thought it was the fuel pump, ordered a new one but still no start, next replaced the fuel shut off relay, no start, then I changed the bank angle / tip sensor yesterday still no start, when I jump the wires at the fuel cut off relay I switch on and the fuel pump purrs away and the bike starts up perfect, so its got to be an electrical issue somewhere, all fuses are good no flashing fi lights etc. can anyone point me in the rite direction and has someone had a similar problem, help would be appreciated as there is only one Honda dealer local to me and they don't want to bother as they are happy doing basic service work

thanks reg71 for reply, really appreciate it, I stripped down the kickstand switch on the kickstand and cleabed it etc but all seems good, no corrosion nothing it looks like new. is there a way to bypass this so I can iliminate it, I did suspect this but you have to remove the throttle body according to manual to change it.

Use a test light and check to see if you have power to the relay, I doubt you would but work back from that. There is probably a relay fuse somewhere And then check your old fuel pump it probably works so you could easily flog it off here because there is a constant need for pumps:smile: ...
