So after posting a thread regarding which 3rd party seat to go with I was led to a local guy who does custom seats for bikes

Original thread regarding which seat to go with..
    http://vfrworld.com/forums/gear-accessories/43106-cmseats-vs-corbin-sargent.html

I was tired of the stock seat, 5 hours into a ride my butt was killing me.. So I thought to find something better as I love riding this bike on long excursions through the mountains..

    Here is the stock POS..

So I contacted Steve at Steve Gowing Tailored Motorcycle Creations and he asked me to bring the bike up to him to look at.
Now this process is a bit different, he had me get on the bike then checked pressure points/contact points for where my butt touched the seat and where it is lacking support. After an hour or so of talking and going over what I wanted to accomplish with replacing my seat we set a drop off date. One of the problems with the stock config of the seat was that it would slide its rider forward away from the most comfy/wide part of the seat mainly because the way it was angled back to front.

I dropped off the bike and let him goto work. he called me a few days later asking me to come back up and sit on it and test it. He also want to examine the pressure/contact points again to see if he got them right or to make adjustments.

Once we set the final config of the bike seat we went over how I wanted it to look, I thought piping at first, maybe red to match the main color of the bike, maybe silver.. maybe all black.. but in the end I decided i wanted it to be different but good looking without having to have a ton of color on it.

A few days after the last test on sitting on it, he called me up and said it was ready.. here it is sitting on his work bench.. my main thing was trying to tie in the silver rear fairing into the seat.. The silver is a great match to the paint..

Here it is on the bike, and I must say the ride down from Fort Collins was the most comfy I have had on this bike.. Cant wait to hit 285 and head to south park for another 8 hour ride..

Looks fantastic. Mind if I ask in what ballpark that kind of work costs?

this ran me 440.00 compare that to Sargent and corbin and it comes out cheaper a bit but its designed to fit you. The problems I had with corbin and sargent is they are still one size fits all..

I think tinker paid around 350 or so for his.. Mine was a bit more because of the extra silver..
