I just got a 2012 VFR 1200f for $16,600, it was a demo bike but only had 48 miles on it. This is my first two wheeler, I first bought a Can Am Spyder. I have always wanted to be on two, so I finally made it happen. I am taking it easy since two wheels is totally different than three wheels. After riding both I think they both have there pros and cons but I like both for different reasons. The mods for vfr have started with Heli Bars, put on last week. Puig windshield will be installed this week and maybe a Cortech Dryer tank bag. I am sending off a seat to Sergent Cycle, the seat stock is not comfy. I will hopefully get my Dam pipe soon, need to save up. It will be painted in December, Black and pink will be the colors and maybe a little silver. For all of you who didn't catch on, I am a female rider. Don't judge the color like some riders do and then get passed by the woman on the pink bike like some Harley riders have done, they get made because they can't keep up in the canyons with a three wheeler. I tell them to just cruise, that is what a Harley is for, but not a Spyder.

I really love this bike, performance and looks are great. This bike had my name on it. I did look at a BMW f800 GT, but I thought about the saying about how BMW stands for Bring More Wallet, I think the vfr will be less in maintenance. My mechanic will tech me how to do my own oil changes and other things at his shop. Everyone keeps asking me why I got a bike that has so many cc's. I said because it is a sport touring bike and it feels comfortable. I don't like crotch rockets because you can't go far and they kill your back. I have done 400+ mile days on Spyder, so of course I will most likely do the same on vfr.
Thank you to all of you who post pics and wright ups on here which helped me decide I wanted a vfr and the mods I want for it. I never leave anything I own stock.

Welcome, and great colors... on both machines. Nothing wrong with pink, especially for a lady rider. Is that a custom paint job?

Hey Cafox, welcome to the WORLD, and congrats on the new purchase. No comments either for or against the Canam. Personally I like the looks of them and having ridden one for a short test ride with my wife, I can honestly say it was neat to ride. Coming from 2 wheels it does take a bit to get used to not leaning with the bike in to the corners, but it was certainly comfortable.

As for the color choice for your VFR, the blue is really nice and IMO is more suited to the bike than the red. When it comes to painting the bike pink, all the more power to you, since after all the bike is yours. Not to mention, most VFR owners tend to make the bike their own and what better way than in your favourite color. Only suggestion might be to take a few photos of the bike and see if someone can photoshop in the color you want to use. Coming from an automotive background, there are some colors that look great on one vehicle and not on others. Not saying don't paint the bike pink, don't get me wrong, just make sure the color looks as good on the bike as it does on the color chip.

All the best and keep her shiny side up.

Yes it is, I had a painter mix in the pearl with it so it changes colors from pink to purple to red depending on the lighting and time of day or night.

Cool. My wife and I for one would be interested to see some pictures once the bike is painted. She is considering picking up a 96 VFR from a guy in town and she wants to paint the bike. Since the Viffer is currently silver, not the most appealing color in her opinion, she likes the idea of the chameleon type color. Keep us apprised.

Thanks, I will post pictures. I have not seen a custom paint on a vfr on here. This bike will be more pinkish red this time with some cool air brush. I love doing custom jobs on my vehicles, and I have been looking at other ladies pink sport bikes. I have come up with my own theme and I think it will look great.
I hope your wife finds a color she likes, go to a bike show or look at photos on the internet. Thats how I come up with my customizations ideas, putting my own designs into effect.

1200's are catching on quick here, but you may well be our first lady owner ( I will wait patiently to be corrected). You have the right to do whatever you like with your bike, so long as you accept that others have the right to comment on it. Welcome aboard and ride safe.

Color shifting candy paint is a bear to shoot right. You must have a good painter that knows what he's doing. I've dabbled with straight 3-stage candy apple red a couple of times, but it was on an '80's UJM with traditional tank + fenders + side cover - the way God intended motorcycles to have. With separate pieces like that, just about any color - however wild and crazy - works well. When you start to have connected and flowing panels like the VFR1200, you need to pick more carefully. I've got a qt of Lexus Pearl Yellow (OEM color for LFA) that I've been trying to work up the courage to shoot on a bike. If mine were the '12 metallic Blue, I wouldn't even think of touching it. The red is good too, but one of these days... :potstir:

Thanks, I think I did see one lady post some comments on here before, I guess the men on here do need time to get use to a woman being here on the forum. I was also one of the first women to buy a Spyder to. I am probable the first female owner of a VFR here in California.

The paint that is on my Spyder is House of Color, my guy did a great job on the paint and airbrush in my opinion. I will only let him paint the VFR. I hope you do paint it soon, I like seing the different paint themes. Always seeing the same colors is boring to me. I was the one of the fist to custom a Spyder, so I guess I will be the first to custom a VFR.

Just from the pic of the CanAm the paintwork is professional. If the same painter does your 1200 it will be equally well done.

Thank You, I like having having something the same but different from everyone else. When we first all got our Spyders, they were all silver and black. We almost couldn't tell our bikes apart. Now everyone knows that is my bike because it is one of a kind. The only bad thing is I can't do anything criminal because most of the cops in my city know me by the bike, but I am a good citizen anyhow.
