Hey guys just installed a 12v cigarette lighter socket to my 6th gen VFR800. Looking for idea on where the best place to mount it to the bike. I have it cable tied to my handlebars ATM.

If I get a VFR, I am looking to do this as well. Did you just get the outlet at Radio Shack? How do you hook it into the battery?

Wouldn't it be best just to buy a powerlet outlet and install it into the steering top plate, dead center, it seems like the perfect spot

Yes I have seen them and I think they're great but I will be putting a RAM mount there for my Iphone (GPS) in the nearish future.

Except when you have to remove your forks for servicing and you have to completely remove all that electrical work.

How about a suction cup mount for a helmet? That way everyone will know that the rider is connected. A tinfoil antennae or some rabbit ears and no one gets lost on trips to Walmart.

A better connector than a cigarette lighter is the one from BMW.

There are alternatives also including USB and $.99 types for cigarette lighters in Yugos.

I use the BMW style plug on the ST for my heated gear. It's definitely the way to go. The standard car cigarette lighter just doesn't hold the connection securely.
