I am going to have to replace the rear CCT on my 2004 soon. Do the rear downpipes have to be removed in order to remote it or can it be done by just removing the right rearset and exhaust shield? The front was able to be done without removing a bunch of stuff the manual said had to be done so I'm hoping the rear is the same. I did a quick search but didn't find what I was looking for and due to work, I don't have the time I used to in order to dig in and see if the information is already on here somewhere.

I'm just hoping that it is an afternoon/2-3 beer job and not an all day thing, especially since I don't want to have to order new exhaust gaskets again as I just got done painting and wrapping the headers.

    Thanks in advance guys!

Did mine a while back and I recall only having to remove the rearset and heat shield. Rear cctl was a snap compared to the front one.
I also recall that the existing old cctl was hardly extended at all and didn't need to be unwound much at all. YMMV

Sweet, easy work then. I'll get it ordered and swap it out the next time I throw it on the lift.

My front one had the spring come unbound on it and I can only guess that the same has happened on this one.

    Are these the correct parts?

    CAM CHAIN TENSIONER

    6 14520-MCW-003 LIFTER, TENSIONER $97.47
    7 14523-MCW-003 GSKT, TENSIONER HOLE $3.62
    8 14524-MBB-000 CAP, LIFTER PAT $6.29

Has the CCT lifter been superseded by part number 14520-MCW-013?

The 013 lifter is supposedly a newer revision of the 003 lifter, newer being better.
I reused the existing "cup" on mine but new ones can't hurt.

I did the same on the front and will be doing the same on the rear. I found one in stock at a Honda dealer in Ohio and they price matched Partzilla's price plus shipped it to me so it will be here today.
