I have checked the classifieds here and no luck. Mine are so pitted they look like they were sandblasted. New they are about $320. per side here in Canada. Anyone aware of someone parting out a 6th gen who may have these headlight assembly. I only need the plastics. I think the front lens and the back portion of the assembly are glued together so I would likely have to buy the whole unit.

Anyone know of a good used part source, preferably in the Vancouver or Fraser Valley area of Canada?

There is a compound that you can buff it out and look like new

    +1 to Scub.

The headlight restoration kit is worth looking into. Spend a little more time on the rough compound to take the pits out. It may not get it back to stock, but sounds cheaper than new plastics. Just a thought.

I do a wet sand with 1200 paper and then polish with plastic specific compound on my cages. Works great but messy and hard to do with the assemblies installed. Probably even harder with them off the bike as they will be hard to hold while you work on em. They are quite pricey even used on e-bay.

Another + for a headlight restoration kit. You just have to have patience. I've used them twice, and they both come in a multi-step process. So if you start out with the abrasive grit, when you finish with that, you'll think you've just ruined your lights. But as you progress through the various steps, it will definitely smooth out.

I spent about an hour (total) doing my daughters 1998 Civic. Those lights look like they were painted a dull white since they were so oxidized and pitted. When I was done, they looked "almost new".

I will definitely give that a try just before I take the jump to spend money. I have an assortment of air and electric polishers and the such which should make the task a bit easier. As far as holding them down, I have a son for that. You think? REALLY! Can dream can't I.

Randy - just check the directions about the air/electric polishers. None of the products I've used said anything about using them. Not saying it can't be done, but you don't want to be too hard on it.

While we are at it, spending my money that is, I priced out powder coating wheels locally. Media blasted with glass bead, and preped and powdered for about $150. per wheel. Does that sound reasonable?

$150 is reasonable. Not the best deal, but not the worst I've heard.

Randy is talking Canadian money, so its really only about $7.87 per wheel.

$80.00 just for the powder coating or both the powder and media blasting? Turns out, they are white already so I may not need to paint them after all. We will see when it gets here.

Bartered not bar tend. Close enough, I'll give it to you.

    $80 a piece is a steal.
