Mtn bike tires yes, MC tires no. I believe that Cheng Shin owns them and/or operates under the name Maxxis. You finding a killer deal you cannot pass up or something? Is it the "Supermaxx" you are looking at? The online reviews I have read about them are ok it seems.

Tire and oil opinions are like assholes...everybody's got one. :ass: I say buy a set and you tell us.

Yes the Supermaxx touring tyres were the ones I was looking at, good price and seems to be good reviews online but I wanted opinions from people who had tried them.

Based on reviews, I do not think there will be anything detrimental if you give'em a whirl. However, I personally prefer to pay a little more for a higher mileage, higher quality tire such as a Michelin Pilot Road 2 or 3. Factoring in cost of tire, mileage from said tire (usually 10-12k on a PR3 for me, vs 3-5k for others I have tried) , cost of mounting/balancing, headache of frequent tire changes......well, the Pilot Roads are damn hard to beat. Say I pay $120 for a cheaper tire I get 4k out of, $30 to mount/balance, vs $190 for a Pilot Road that I get 10 to 12k out of ( 13-15k out of a front).

Of course, the type of riding you do plays a factor as well.

If all else fails, use the force young padawan.

Heck, I have a set of Shinko 006 Podiums in the garage in 120 and 180 available. A little stickier, but at a great price.

Bought for a project, never happened.

    Anyone interested?

Just replaced the 020 on the back of my 97 bike with a Maxxis Supermaxx and so far it seems more than up to the job...nice ang grippy and feels good in the wet also.. I was getting some handling issues so decided to try another tyre on the rear and it seems to have cured it...Will let you know how much mileage I get out of it, but so far very impressed..
