Reminds me of, and I wished I had a camera back somewhere around 2000 or so, I was part of a huge security detail at Kananaskis Alberta where the G8 were having their yearly conference. Bush and his puppets were going to be there so the threat level was huge.

Anyways, I was posted through the night from 1800 through to 0600 or something like that for the eight on nine days of the conference and a few days before its commencement.. Our group was at the very south gates to the park entrance at Kananaskis Provincial Park. Way out in the wilderness. We have no radio, no phone, nothing. Matter of fact, they forgot about us out there and we had no food for a couple days too but managed on military cookie rations until we got food. But that's another story.

We had a Porta Pottie set up about 100 yards away from out post on a side road. There was wildlife all over the place. Mountain goats, Huge rams and because closer in the camp area, all the security detail had displaced the grizzly, we had them all around us in close quarters to. They were collared with GPS and the Conservation officers were like bees in a hive around us dealing with the grizzlies.

Anyway to the point. I was walking up to the pottie and heard a clickity clickity coming at me from behind. I heard all the guys at the post screaming something at me. I turned around just in time to see this absolutely gigantic Ram, with about a full 360 degree curl in his horns, head down and charging at me from only about 20 yards away. He had his head down and he meant business. Seems I walked between him and about 4 or 5 female sheep a little further up the road. Luckily for me, this ram veered off to the right and ran away. Fucking good thing cause he was about 400 - 450 pounds. I was not going to win that battle I can honestly say. If he had hit me, I would have not gotten up on my own. May not have even gotten up.

Quite an interesting duty that was. Rams, grzzlies, protesters, no comms. And guess what else? My assigned partner was a Hindu or Sikh or something. Nothing wrong with that, but his and my patrol area took us through a lot of free range area where cows were roaming in great numbers and quite freely. Cows are sacred in his world. We had to stop while he mumbled something or other to just about every fucking one of those future Big Macs. I think he was pulling my chain.

 

You left the romantic ending oot where Tink gets the goat drunk and......well.....ya know.
