    what a story ! :(
this has me thinking about how I will insure my new ld bike
not going mininum on this one.
get well, get a bike or don't whatever you feel like.
got a buddy that still rides dirtbikes, one of the best riders I ever saw,& he does this after breaking his neck 10 years ago !
pretty sure I would stop riding if I broke my neck & was still walking, but he is one of those guys that just loves bikes so much

Know you don't need it but good luck. Maybe the next examiner will be female and you could use your male wiles on her. Of course that may work against you.

Insurance is the key. Of course the other person being 100% at fault helps the cause. I used to love to ride in the dirt. But anyone who goes their entire dirt career without crashing wasn't going fast enough. It was my plan to never have an accident on the street. I'll pass that goal over to you.

Thank god i have not had any serious crashes on the street but lately have been feeling like i may be pushing my luck. So i have been considering giving up the street for the dirt. I realize that it is possible to get just as injured in the dirt as the street but i think you have a lot more control of your own fate in the dirt. The majority of the time crashing in the dirt involves more laughing after the crash where on the street no crash is ever funny.
Glad to hear you are doing well and trying to put this behind you.

Glad to hear things improving for you Jug. What a course you've had to endure. Sorry to hear you may give up the bike life, but totally understandable. Hell I might give it up too considering what happened, or I might look at one of those sidecar rigs.

While out antiquing with my wife we stopped by the honda shop. Before we left the house (after a request to visit the honda shop) she asked me are we buying a motorcycle today? When I replied no she said good I don't think you could drive one yet. I must be part belgian the way I waffle. I also say it would be very hard to resist the fz09 if it had abs. Glad they short changed it that way. I think that the light way is how honda should be moving. Had a yz465. I supermotoed it on the street a bit.. It had all the fun you could ever want. Roll on the throttle in 3rd and the nicest power wheelie you could ever wish for. It was about 40-50hp and 250 lbs. I would go with any 80-100hp 300-400 lbs bike with abs and old man ergo's. It would have to have good torque not a wring it out motor.

Interesting specs Bill - pretty spot on what I was looking for when I went looking for as a second bike - and ended up with a Triumph Street Triple!

    IMG_5051.jpg

The Street Triple is a light naked bike or there is the Daytona if you want a faired ride. The Street Triple is a total hooligan bike especially at home on twisty mountain roads, and so light compared with the VFR it feels like a toy but is insanely fast. From 2013 there is an ABS option and the R model comes with decent suspension which can be adjusted to handle heavier riders. Even brand new the prices seem reasonable. If you have a Triumph dealer near you - take one for a test ride. Just beware you will end up grinning like a Cheshire cat and won't want to give it back.

It great to hear you are on the mend. Take Care.

Had a friend that bought one. He loves the thing, minus the mirrors. Typical UJM. Will feel soulless compared to the VFR, especially down low. But the thing goes like stink up top...

Why did you go with the Street over the Speed? Weight? I'm more interested in the Speed, but it's a HEAVY bike for something naked.
