my 85 vf500 has had the carbs cleaned spotless.. floats set to factory .. new glass lines .new plugs.. carbs synced.. timing checked.. compression tested.. so my problem is cylinders1 and 3 dont seem to be doing anything.. bike is running very rich.. plugs from 1 and 3 r coming out black.. bike barely runs.. then paid to have carbs cleaned and still the same issue.. any insight to my problem would be great..

BAM! You found the problem. The needle seats harden after a quarter of a century. Does not matter where u set the float, if the needles don't seal, its going to run rich. And the best part is when u fill up your cylinders with fuel, then try and start it!

    Replace the needles.

Could be bad CDI; that bike has 2, each firing 2 cylinders. Without an adequate spark to burn the fuel, plugs will look wet.
