    Hey guys and gals,

I've been reading this forum for several months now and finally pulled the trigger on my very first street bike, a very, very well maintained 1986 VFR700F2 for $2700. It is mechanically flawless with barely 17K miles. I've looked it over thoroughly and it looks like a 2-3 year old machine. All stock except for Corbin seat and Throttlemeister. Has been re-sprayed and graphics were not re-applied to the factory scheme by choice of the previous owner, which is fine with me. I like the simplified look, something different than all the flash I see lately.

Don't get me wrong, I still like the RWB scheme very much, but this particular white color has sentimental value to me:

Back in 1989, I passed on buying a bike just like this one that I saw used at a Kawasaki dealer in Raleigh NC. I've had two-wheelers of one kind or another in my life ever since I was 5 years old, and I still ride a BMX trick bike to this day, and I still go to the skatepark with it every once in a while to clown around. But ever since that day in 1989, I had never found the right time to buy a dirt or street bike until about 5 years ago when I bought my first dirtbike and I loved it. I have always wanted a street bike, and I even read the magazines when I could, for over 20 years now. Then about 6 months ago I started looking at street bikes on Craigslist, specifically looking for either a spotless RWB VFR, or a white F2 like this one. When I found this one and heard the story behind it and the care that went into maintaining it, I knew I had found the right bike to start riding on. I respect the bike very much because (call me crazy) I think this might actually be that same exact bike I passed on in 1989. It's from the same city, it's the same year model, same color, and we all know the early white F2's are rare, so it could be... (hey don't burst my bubble, let me have my sentimental fantasy).

So I just bought $1000 of new gear, and I plan to take the DMV test next week. I've been out on a few runs and it is completely exhilarating to feel the wind, notice the temperature changes when you ride into a valley, and smell the grass and fields as you pass by. What an experience! I could kick myself for waiting 24 years to do this, but knowing my risk-taker personality, I'd have probably done something stupid if I had bought this bike way back then at just 20 years old.

Thanks very much for all the good info I have found on this forum and I hope I can contribute and share as I learn more about these fantastic bikes and this community.

Nice find! If you take care if it, it'll take good care of you. Welcome to the forum (albeit a little late) and enjoy the new toy!

Aloha and Welcome aboard. Nice find there and looks good with the corbin seat.

I got mine not too long ago and really enjoy the ride. Only problem I had was a
melted connector from stator to R/R. No problem with the R/R(was changed previously)
and bike ran well. Just checked connection because of frequency of incidence.

Glad I did, and did the bypass of connector(soldiered wires directly with shrink tube and
liquid electrical tape after). No problems since.

Been riding it way more than my VTR that has a sargent seat and helibars.

Added a fork brace from a Hurricane and noticed a good improvement on the twistes.

If your doesn't have one, it might be a good addition. Have fun and,

    Ride Well...

Beautiful bike! I'm in the process of restoring mine which I bought new in 1986 as my first bike. I did buy mine when I was 20 years old, and did many a stupid thing on her as a new rider. I'm glad a had a sympathetic Guardian Angel watching over me at the time. You are going to love it! After 27 years, she still puts a smile on my face:)
