So I have a 02 vfr800 non abs, and while riding around town, the front wheel started grinding/screatching intermittedly. I shut of the bike and started rolling it around and it seemed to do it for every wheel revolution. at first I thought it was a pebble caught in the brakes or something just came loose. But there wasn't any marks on the disks and nothing visually loose. Any Ideas what it might be? My friend says wheel barring but I would think that would be a more constant grinding. Thanks in advance.

The mileage needs to be stated, please.

Get it up on the centerstand and spin the wheel by hand. Some pad drag (noise) is normal, but feeling resistance isn't. Maybe warped rotor, bad caliper seals or slider pins need grease. If it is worn wheel bearings, they should be replaced ASAP. If you remove the wheel, it's easy to check them.

Check brake pads, assuming you have any left! I wouldn't ride it till you find/fix it.

Check your brake pads ! They are the usual suspect for grinding noise, metal on metal.

That's probably too low mileage for wheel bearings to have failed, but you need to check anyway.

Check to make sure there are no squirrels stuck in your wheel spokes.

by god that was it Rollin, you are my savior... lol

So I put it up on centerstand, rolled front wheel and there was resistance. So I took calipers off and the wheel spun freely. No squirrels or noises or free play from wheel. Tell me more about the slide pin. Can you use normal auto brake grease? I'm not even sure how this procedure is done. I'm sorry for sounding like an Idiot. This is my first street bike. I understand about slide pins on autos but this is all new. Pics couldn't hurt either. thank you so much again.
