Detroit Michigan " The Ruins" Detroit

A couple pics from The Detroit Michigan Ruins. Some totally bizarre places and people but all in all a great ride if you get the chance.

 

Actually yeah! everyone there is on ADV, They all kinda frequent the Detroit thread, were all pretty local to SCS too!

 

Sad to see such an industrial city wiped off the map I think I heard the other day the city has filed for bankruptcy

I remember driving through Detroit many years ago and I wondered to myself if the government was using parts of the city to test their latest bombs. Some of the surrounding suburbs are quite nice but I've never seen so many abandoned and run-down buildings in my life. Such a shame considering it was once a very thriving city.

I agree! This used to be a mecca for manufacturing, entertainment, and growth. But years of political neglect that trickled down to the citizens has literally ate the city like cancer. Truely a sad story.

 

I was only in Detroit once. For 4 days. If my cage hadn't broken down at 85mph, I would have outrun those coppers, though. I don't plan on going back.

Also, had no idea we had people from SCS on here...that's where I grew up! My parents live in neighboring Grosse Pointe Woods which is where my VFR stays for safe keeping when I don't have it in A2. Would love to go riding with you guys at some point.

 

I've been fascinated by Detroit for years. If my laptop wouldn't have roasted its hard drive recently I would post links to some of the stuff I've found. Just the sheer amount of urban decay. Huge sections of now "urban plains" where open fields used to be massive blocks of houses. It's like nature is taking back the land. The whole "Night of Fire" thing. While I never advocate arson, is almost a needed thing in this city. The many failed city plans and community works that just drove the city deeper in the hole. The pictures are sad... but almost beautiful in a weird sort of way. My favorite has always been Michigan Central Station and hotel.

detroit is such a craphole you dont have to where a DOT helmet because you should be wearing kevlar. I go thru there a couple times a year, there are literally parts of the city where if you stop at night, you will die. Airport is nice, around Casino is nice but don't walk more than a couple blocks away or you're getting stabbed.

Buckeyes aren't worried about MI, even w/out our running back and star corner...
