hi all, first time here so here we go
Ive had my 5th gen VFR from new and loved it but I had a opportunity to build my own house so the old girl went into storage for some time while money was tight. I also had two heart attacks, any way sorted now
I bought my son and I a 50cc sachs madass for fun to ride in the garden and really enjoyed it super fun

It was now time for some mods to the madass -
new Daytona 150cc engine 20 bhp from 4bhp standard
    scorpion race pipe
    28 mikuini carb & filter
Ran the engine in and was pulling 97 mph on A34 followed by my friend on his CBR!!
The problem was the brakes could not cope and suspension was not up to the power
    Special built shock for rear
    New springs for forks
    Double hh brake pads front
    CRF 125 front master cylinder
    New hydrolic rear brake system
    New aluminium rear sub frame
    New tyres
    Digital dash board
Lots of money spent here are some pics
    022.jpg 024.jpg 025.jpg

So this got me thinking time to get the VFR out of retirement
After a new battery and a set of plugs it fired up ok
I never liked the linked brakes so what were my options? onto the internet for some ideas!
I wanted to keep the same geometry but liked the idea of usd forks and radial brakes It seamed that Yamaha r1 forks were a close match the only problem were the clipons
So I started to collect the parts:-
    Yamaha r1 forks 05
    Front wheel
    Ebc brake discs
    Front fender
    Radial callipers
    R1 master cylinder
    Cbr 600 rear master cylinder
    Hell brake lines

I had the wheels powder coated
I milled the Billet top and bottom yokes my self 40mm offset and machined to receive original VFR stem pressed in

I weighed the new R1 front end and the old front end both with tyres on and the VFR is 6lbs heavier than R1

Time to test and I can say its out of this world you would not believe how good it is

I removed the Pair valve system and installed a power chip and now it pulls power wheelies in third gear
Cant wait till oulton park track day. Done 1000 miles since mods and I love it
    Look forward to your comments

I like that exhaust...been thinking of a GPR high mount for my 2000. Will that thing cause issue with soft saddle bags?

Nice looking machines there madass. I have never seen one of those Sachs madass bikes before, and man it is cool looking. My son saw the pics (he's 6 as of 2 weeks ago) and he wants one BAD. Maybe once he learns to ride his bike a bit better and figures out the whole stop using the hand brakes instead of the foliage thing.

The Yamaha forks on your Viffer look great and the smaller fender actually suits the bike. I imagine the bike is a joy to ride. Looks great madass. Have fun with the bikes and don't forget to keep em shiny side up.

Very cool, I like the R1 front end mod. I am always interested in more power, tell me more about the power chip you installed.

yeah plus one. how the hell are you power wheelying 3rd gear?
i know the 5th gen swing arm is an inch shorter and the bike and your front end is a little lighter, but still.
are you running a major sprocket kit or what? i know the gearing is a bit different on the 5th vs 6th gen too, but 3rd gear power wheelie is crazy.
i need some more details on this build. i guess its possible though.

I think the carbon fibre end cans would be ok because it dose not conduct heat like metal does

sorry not too good with computers better with bikes!!! the power chip is a genesis performance chip, It came from Canada but the pair value system must be removed to get maximum performance. Im running standard sprockets on mine.

The madass is great fun and you can pick them up really cheap if they are standard. my son who is 18 now learned to ride on it until I did the mods and it scared the hell out of him but it scares most people!!! I take it to race meeting to get about on and it always gets a crowd

Is this one of those chips that plugs into the air temperature sensor?

yes you piggyback it onto the wires. I bought it off a shop on ebay but the shop is no longer listed so cant put a link on.

it didn't work correctly until I removed and blocked off the pair value system
