I can’t believe I’m saying this; but it’s time that I sell my 1994 VFR, there is a new horse in the stable. I have a guy interest at work, but to be honest I’m not sure what to set the asking price at. Hopefully based off the information below you can give me a fair value for my bike. If the sale falls through with my co-worker, if anyone is interested, let me know. Below are just a handful of things I've done to my VFR over the past couple years.

    • 40,108 miles
    • Roadsmart front and rear tires w/ 5,000 miles
    • RK chain & sprockets w/ <1,000miles
    • Replaced fuel filter
    • All new fuilds
    • Rebuild all carbs with new seals / gaskets
    • New battery – TruGel Always on battery tender
    • Vance and Hines slip-on pipe. Cut down.
    • Has some cosmetic damage from previous owner. Noted in pictures.

Where in the US are you selling? Here in northern California I'd start at about $3300 and work down from there. Other areas in the country are going to be different $.

Yes, where you are in the US will make a difference. We know VFRs are pretty bullet proof but that's getting into the high bike mileage range. The bike has been well maintained but has some cosmetic damage. Around here 5th gens are selling for $3200. I would think you would be looking at $2500. They are seen as old sport bikes and priced accordingly.

I keep telling myself the my VFR is to ride because I am going to lose money on it big time.

With the cosmetic damage you are looking at around $2500 give or take a few hundred. If you have a seat cowl included you can get a little more for it.

I have to agree with Rolling and Jim $2500 probably right. I can find a 5th gen around $3000 low mileage and FI. Just my 2 cents.

i doubt anyone would want to pay more than $2K for a 20 year old sport bike except a vfr-lover who wanted to show mercy upon your soul...most folks don't know or care about the unique aspects or history of these machines.

Thanks Squirrelman I will keep that in mine.
The other day I found An Royal Enfield 2006 with 3100 miles and have been seat seen 2007 pristine condition. The bike is not running and asking only $2000 I was tempting but afraid about carburetor. The bike is in New York by you.

Boy, my 90K 5th must be worth less than a six pack of Coors light.

    There's a local 40K '95 listed for $3K, a 29K '96 for $3200 and a 16K '96 for $3500. All "clean", original with clear titles. Around here I'd start at $3300 and work down until you got a buyer.

Thanks guys for helping me establish an asking price for my VFR. I think I'll start off around $1,800-$2k. My co-workers interest has dropped, so I'm thinking about posting it for sale on craigslist or on this forum. Just so you guys know, i'm currently located in Lincoln, NE; but, moving back to Michigan by the end of next month.

The 29k vfr is mine. I listed it due to pressure fome family to downsize and they don't understand why I have 4(3 of them 4th gen) vfr's lol. I have gotten a handful for $2800 offfer and couple of 3k offer one of them cash in hand at my home. That was when i listed it 2 months ago for $3500 and 4k miles less. Now the bike is at 31K miles. My sprint Rs is almost back on road and next time I get a 3k offer I am selling this vfr.

Realistically for a clean 4th gen $2800 will move it fairly fast and 3k+ with the right buyer who just wanta ready for road trip bike.
