Hi All, I just got a 86 vfr 700F and i had to bleed the air out of the clutch about every 30 miles or so... i bought a new cap diaphram and took the system apart and cleaned it very good. But now i cant seem to get the system to work. im pumping and pumping but the system will not build up pressure. I tried everything. What else can i do to get this fixed? Thank you for any and all help on this.
Hi, the fluid goes away?. The level goes down then the master sucks air from the empty deposit? CALM... don't stress... actually when yo empty completely the system, is quite difficult to make the master pump (lever) start to suck fluid, since is full air inside. The Clutch line is short, and the system is very simple, Master Up with deposit and lever... , line..., slave cylinder down. may be a yard of path. Happens the same to me first time I recommend STRONGLY to but a syringe @ pharmacy (medium-big size), connect a rubber hose at the tip, and connect the other end to the bleeder in the SLAVE. Fill the deposit with fluid, and start to make VACUUM from the bleeder with the syringe (sucking), the fluid in the deposit will start to go down... DON'T LET THE DEPOSIT GET EMPTY or you'll start to suck air. You'll surprise how fast is that method.. 10 minutes and you'll have the path Full ... no air.. and takes 10 minutes. Good Luck!
I have tried to vacuum at the bleeder screw and the fluid doesnt go lower in the master cylinder, im not understanding why this is happening. i know it a very simple system but the lever has no feeling to it. its super easy to push, the master cylinder isnt building up any pressure.

As a last try, previous to de-assembly all the system for cleaning and search for possible obstructions try to do the opposite, fill the syringe and try to inject the fluid DOWN to UP, from the bleeder in the slave towards the lever/deposit. But also check first the very small hole in the bottom of the deposit where the fluid feeds the master, is common to be clogged, if you clean without care you push the dirt into it In case you have an obstruction in one direction, probably doing this, you will push the thing UP direction. If this doesn't work, I guess you need to take out the master on the lever, the line and the slave individually to check out, is sticky but not much complicated, I recommend to buy the replacement kits of rubbers for both Master / Slave since you have everything out the bike
A small obstruction in the dsposit hole stops the fluid feed to the line. remember that there is NO PRESSURE to force the fluid to the master, is only gravity.. the presure is after the master towards down. A small dirt on the hole don't allow to feed fluid to the master.
Very good,,,, thanks to you both,, i will try this soon as i get home today... does anyone know anything about the wireing? i noticed the lights on the speedo and tach dont work, but i looked at the fuse and noticed it was bad, i replaced it and those light work fine but the marker ( blinker) lights now stay on. they blink light normal when i turn on the blinker but then just stay on. Why do you think that happens?
Thats the way they do it in the aviation industry! I have a Miti-Vac air assisted bleeder thing, that is titz. :breasts7: If you think the clutch is bad, try doing the linked brakes on these bikes. PITA...Cheers and good luck. You can use an oil can with a modified hose on the end, and just pump too...
side bar: Have a nice little bottle of H20 handy in case you get any of this nasty shit on your paint, tools, floor, hands as water nuetralizes DOT4 brake fluid.
I did it Last Week... 7 bleeders, almost a litre of Fluid.. lots of messy fluid in the floor, and my daughter pumpin the pedal, for some bleeders that are in the opposite side.. anyhow... it tomke me an hour and a half. not bad for the first time with linked brakes

You might need a clutch rebuild kit? CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER REBUILD KIT HONDA CBR 1000 HURRICANE 1100 BLACKBIRD ST on eBay! It might be sucking air through the piston....
Any time the clutch or brake mc is emptied of fluid it's best to bleed the mc separately at it's banjo bolt before hooking it up to the lines. Also helps clutch bleeding to remove slave from bike and secure the piston fully retracted with a C-clamp so no air can hide behind it.
