So I left the key on to keep the cooling fan running on my 6th gen after I shut down the motor.

Unfortunately this leaves the headlight on and worse i mistakenly left it for 30 min. The battery was too weak to restart the bike so I charged it.

Unfortunately the lowest setting on my charger was something like 5 amps. The battery label states a quick charge at 0.5 amps for 1 hour. So charged it for 15 min. The bike fired right up.

2 days later did same stupid thing.

    3 questions:

1)Does it sound like my battery is weak and died too quick with ignition and headlight on?

2)Did I damage the battery with the quick charge? First time I charged it the battery was bubbling inside and warm to touch when I took it off charge. Second time I used a weaker charger for less time.

    3) Am I being silly leaving the key on to let the cooling fan run? Bike is at 230 ish when I park these days. (90+ degree weather)

    Thank you!

Running the fan after riding doesn't accomplish much since the coolant isn't circulating, so it won't cool the engine.

I figured it would at least cool the coolant in the radiator and in that way decrease the temp of coolant in the "system". Additionally I figured it would get air movement over the engine.

So there's logic- but do you still think it's nearly useless?

Not needed...i am sure our battery is fine. It only hurts if you leave them discharged for long periods.....

I noticed that the bike is still hot to the touch 2-3 hours later, if I put a fan blowing on it, It's much cooler after an hour. So, Now I park in front of a box fan that i have set up on a plug in timer. The timer turns the fan on shortly before I get home from work and off an hour or so later.
