Hmmm....hobbled for life for $15 million after medical bills; I suppose I could live with that. Of course the Lawyer will get his $9.35 million dollar cut I suppose leaving the poor bastard w/ only a touch over $5 million. Figuring he is young, even an average earner will make $2 million in their life time. So realistically he is only $3 million ahead, human nature says he will piss @ least a million away, being CA maybe more as a nice upscale home will be all of a million or more. It's loosing its luster the more I think about it, I think I'd rather bust my ass for living & keep my ability to ride on something other than a trike. It's still better than a kick in the head I suppose.

I agree with t-bones. I'd rather just earn my money than suffer for an idiot. the bad thing is that many of us suffer forever and never get any kind of compensation, though. I'd like to say that maybe this will make car drivers pay more attention, but I don't think it will matter to anyone except those directly affected. it's in our nature.

Wow, that's how I laid my last bike down... I didn't get no where near that much money though... I did get enough to buy my 86 700F, and a nice F150... Not really worth it though...

This is why I don't ride on Nashville's Interstates... They might not even notice they hit you... I don't think that I've riden my bike one time where someone hasn't pulled right out in front of me like I'm not even there. I try to keep to the country side now.

What's up with that 5% at fault crap! Just 'cause the guy's riding a bike he's found a little bit at fault. Just goes to show you how screwed up people are.

They do this auto accidents too, they assign you blame even if the only thing you did wrong was being there. Basically I guess because you could have been somewhere else, but you where there & in accident so your to blame a little. Stupid but I guess thats how it works I had a drunk lawyer explain this to me one night when I used to bar tend.

That 5% penalty is complete and total bovine feces...A licensed, insured motorcyclist on a street legal vehicle cannot be blamed for choosing a perfectly legal method of transportation.

they might have said he was speeding or something stupid
but since I netted like $10-12k for my accident a few years ago, I am a little bitter
I got T-boned by someone pulling out of a driveway, while I was going down the street
I was soo close she didn't pull out in front of me, she actually hit me with her front bumper, license plate sliced open my shin, I went flying across the hood
6 months of physical therapy on my leg, that took the impact
5 months on my hand, plus a couple pins, some screws, and a small plate -- nice scar, 10 years later still some pain occassionally
