    Hello everybody,

I have been on the prowl for the last few weeks to find me some used heli bars (because 280 is a bit steep.) And I can't wait any longer. I need them because my back is begging me to go ahead and make the purchase.

And at the last minute I ran across PremierCycleAccessories.com. I just ordered a pair (with Paypal) for 251.00 and free shipping. So that 30 bucks is going towards my new Sargent seat. Which I believe is also on the same website at a reduced price.

Just thought I'd let everyone know because it seems like used heli bars don't last more than a day in the Classifieds, and I'm sure other people are more willing to pay 250.0 rather than 280.0.

    Good Day. :typing:

Thanks for the tip. I am on the fence about helis. When I first got my VFR I was certain I'd need them because my wrists were in agony.

Looking back, I think maybe the problem was that I hadn't ridden in years and I went to riding full-time (no car) all of a sudden.

Now that I've put 19,000 miles on my bike in 15 months, my wrists stopped bothering me.

I still may do helis, but what I'd really like to do is ride a 6th gen with helis installed so I can decide if it's worth it for me anymore.

Usually sore wrists are a sign that your riding posture is bit off. But it seems you have solved the problem!

I have ridden the 6th Gen with and without heli's, and I can say that I am much happier with the Heli's on the bike. My back is closer to straight up and down, and makes it easier to use correct posture for longer distances on a ride. Also, the bars allow my tush to be rotated back more. That combined with some padded Astars compression shorts was the answer to my lower back being sore after a couple hour ride. I imagine my bike to be somewhat like a couch after I get all my gear and Sargent seat ordered! :)

First of all, I do like the VFR800's, solid bike, but im hooked on the power of my XX Super Black Bird, and since my wife will only let me have one bike, I decided on the current time machine. Anyhow, the riding position is the worst and I need to change my seating position. A very popular mod for the bird is to add 02 and later year, (I think 6th gen) standard VFR clip ons to the bird as they have the same diameter mounts. Im not looking to spend a fortune, but would be willing to buy a set of somebody's stock VFR800 bars after they have converted to Heli's, if they have a set just collecting dust. After having been off a bike for a couple of years, im trying to reacquire most of my riding gear as well, so trying to stretch the dollar a little.

I'm also on the fence regarding the installation of Heli's on my Gen 6. A friend has his 06 set up with them, so I'm hoping to do a comparison ride before I make up my mind. Must admit that installing a set of Tru-spec tank pads made a big difference in keeping me comfortably pushed back and off my wrists. I've also been working hard to improve my core strength, as per some great advice on this site. Definately helps; plus having a big old muffin top hanging over the top of your leathers doesn't do much for ones "cool sport bike rider" image.

A two minute search shows that this outfit is closing up shop and there are 15 Heli items for sale at a small discount. Not much to get exited about.

    HeliBars® Honda VFR800 replacement handlebars

    1 1/4” taller
    1 1/2” rearward

Retains: Stock Cables, Hydraulic Lines and Bar Ends.

You will find it hard to get a set under $279.00 Retail, because of the company HeliBar themselves. I was told they don't like peeps to advertise them under retail.

If you give this gal a call or email she will let you have a set for $250 she did for me anyways. all I did was ask...
