Hey all, Im new to motorcycling and just bought an 86 VFR 500 last week with 2 spare engines and complete frame. Only thing I would need to make a second complete bike would be mirrors and front tire. Paid $500 which I didn't think was too bad for an older bike and my first bike. Since the last thing I rode was a dirtbike about 10 years ago this brings back the memories and freedom. I find it has lots of power and is pretty agile on the road especially considering im a big guy(350 lbs). If I ever have to do any big engine work I think I may have some trouble though as I have my doubts there would be many people around here that would be knowledgeable with the engine. It fell over the other day after the kickstand sinking in the ground so I have to try and find a new left side mirror and its perfect again.

Welcome to the site. We have some others form Nova Scotia and I think a Newfie and Wicker or two as well. Where about in Nova Scotia are you that you say there isn't any motorcycle techies close by? Some day I really want to make it out there to the east coast.

Im in the Sydney area. Its not that we don't have any motorcycle techs around although there is only I think 2 shops within around a 100km and nobody seems to know anything about the engines in these bikes.

Welcome to the WORLD BigJoe from another fellow cancuck. Seems to be a lot of Canadians joining recently which is really nice to see. Of course, a few more in my own neck of the woods would be nice as well. LOL. Nova Scotia has some fantastic scenery and I, like Randy, would love to visit your part of the country one day. Once again, WELCOME and don't forget to post some photos of the new ride. Happy riding and keep her shiny side up.
