    Hi all,
Just picked up a VF700F in reasonable condition for $350 today (I now own 3 ), tank is very rusted but I am confident I can clean it out (the works and evapo-rust do wonders, I have before and after pics on a seca 2 gas tank if there is intrest). The bike came without a fuel pump and I was browsing google for specs on fuel flow so I could hunt down a generic one when I stumbled across this oasis of information. I saw some people talking about how apparently it is common practice for some of you to ditch the fuel pump in favor of gravity feed. I searched around for a bit and most of the threads pertained to the VF500. I'm wondering if this is something I can do with the 700 and if there is anything I should know or any tips. Also (kind of off topic) I am wondering what kind of faring conversions or seat conversions have been attempted, either successfully or unsuccessfully (I have all the fairings for the bike so I don't think I will do one, but faring conversion projects have always tickled my fancy). I will have pictures of the bike up tomorrow.

You will want a fuel pump, if you do a search you will find a few people have fashioned a 2.5 or 3 psi universal fuel pump from your local auto parts store will work just fine.

I fitted one of the square solid state ones from ebay but as I was unsure what pressure it was pumping so I fitted a bypass with an adjustable pressure controller and set that at 2lbs. Not sure if it was all needed but that is what I did. David Silver wanted more money for the pump than I paid for the bike. The reason for the pump is because without a pump you can only use the top half of the fuel in the tank

Here is a picture of the bike, I do have the front fairing for it. As of now I'm waiting for some parts to come in and I can start rebuilding her. The previous owner started parting it out so its missing all kinds of little things but I will do everything I can to make it beautiful again.

While I've got your attention I stumbled across this picture

and am wondering how they got the seat bucketed like that, was it modified or is it aftermarket? I'm thinking about buying a second seat and hacking away at it to try to mimic the look.
