Fwiw I can tell you that my '95 has Michelin Pilot Power tires (the single compound type) and I feel confident enough on them in the rain and on cold-for-me 10C days. I love how light and precise the steering feels and how well behaved it is on crappy pavement, grooves and seams as well. I'm not an aggressive rider so I can't speak to the high end of the performance envelope.
You'll find that tire choices are limited by that 170-sized back tire, but it is recommended to stick to the correct size.

Wet or dry gip is great excellent feel and very stable can highly recommend them if you want to see the roads i ride and they do get wet in winter LOL look at youtube CBRoutlaw Introduction - YouTube

Thanks. Ive got Battlax 020 on the back and 023 on the front. The back is 180 70ZR which is 10mm wider than stock wheel size. Mine has seriously flattened off in the middle. I think I'm gonna go with the Michelin Pilot Road 2s as they do these in 170s for the back. They also dual compound and still supposed to be hard wearing.

Would anyone advise differently and be happy to go with the non-stock 180 back tyre?

why an 020 rear an a 023 front?? the 020 is a 170 .......... hmm strange we all choose what we will i just had a bad expierence with the pr2 and the pp so i wont use em . a o2o is not an S20 is not a 020 they are 2 different tires, the S20 is the OEM tire for all 2012 litre bikes except the BMW even the 2013 bikes its very new
020, 021, 023 are touring tires not to bad in twisties but they aren't S20's

I have the Conti Road Attacks on my '96. Really like them. I get a bit of front wobble when decelerating around 45-50 mph, but nothing major.

    stick with the right size

170 for the 5 spoke 750 wheel. It does limit choice a bit (and costs more)
I picked up a 3rd gen 8 spoker....when the current rear has had it Ill get a new 180 on that. And they look better IMHO.

Running PR3's front and rear....must have done getting on for 5K on them and they seem to be wearing well.
Can't fault their performance wet or dry (but I'm no Michael Dunlop)
A mate put a pair on his Speed Triple and is very pleased.

I really love the feel of Pirelli Diablo's. I have put them on every bike I have ever owned. always got good distance and even wear out of them and sticky as tar on a hot summer day. I do a lot of twisties riding too. I don't know if the straight diablos come in a 170 series but the Diablo Rosso II's do and that's what I'm buying when these budget tires that are on it now wear off (I bought it with them on, I would never buy budget tires). you can get a front and rear on Bikebandit.com for 275ish with free shipping.
